• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

12 Volt Receptacle up front

Has anyone mounted a additional 12 volt adapter up front ? I want to use my Garmin GPS, but at the moment the only jack is in the truck. They definitely should of had one up front on the dash somewhere. Where did any of you put the jack and where did you hook up the power ?

I put a fuzeblock under the seat, broke the plug open, put the electronics in a plastic case, then ran the wiring under the Tupperware.

I mounted switched Powerlets in each of the speaker grills, fed by an Eastern Beaver 3CS fuse block mounted near the battery. I use a Powerlet USB power adapter cable to feed the GPS.

Scottie's and Andy's methods are far superior, but if you want to do the quick and easy way, as I did, simply plug a longer lead into the frunk outlet, lead the wire up under the joint in the frunk seal rubber, and up through the tupperware to your Garmin. You will need to tie the end into the trunk socket with tie wraps or something or it will vibrate loose. I'm not real proud of this setup, but it works fine.

Gordon:

Go to Radio Shack and buy a switched 6 foot extension cord for a power socket.

Cut the wire so you have two equal parts. Plug the switch socket into the outlet in the backcase and run the wire out of the left side of the case (see photo) under the hinge. Take a round file and file a notch in the lower part of the case to set the wire into. Then place a piece of tape over it.

Run the wire under the seat and run it along the inside of the left side tupperware. Remove the screws that hold the tupperware in place along the top edge (there is no need to remove the entire panel).

Splice it together, solder and tape securely and then remove the front side panel and loosen the screws holding the black inner frunk covering in place. Pry up the rubber seal and run the wire under that and into the frunk, then just replace the seal over top of it.

I just put the outlet into one of the pockets in the trunk liner. I can run my GPS wire down under the mirror and into the frunk to pick up power and I can also pick up power for my small electric cooler I place in the trunk.

I want to thank all of you for your suggestions. I use the Garmin in both my cars also, so I can't make a permanent wire hookup. I would have to possibly purchase another garmin wire assembly in order to be able to remove it from the cycle and back into the 2 cars. My neighbor stopped by yesterday and showed my how he stuck the suction cup mount right onto the plastic covering all the guages. I tried that with mine also and found it stuck on very well. The mount covers part of the tach guage, but you can still see everything, plus there is digital and analog guages to make sure you can see them also. The major decision is where to run the wires without having them showing anywhere, except a short piece plugging into the Garmin. I will play with it for the next couple of days and see what I come up with. Yes, the unit that BRP makes solves the whole problem, but way too expensive .
