2010 RT battery charger issue

I have a 2010 RT and bought a Deltran Jr. charger with adapter to plug into trunk outlet-it simply doesn't work. It flashes red [ as if no charge is reaching the battery]; continuity checks on all components including the outlet. I put the charger on my wife's Honda Reflex scooter where it worked fine. Is there anything in early RT's that won't allow trickle charging through the trunk outlet? Any help is appreciated- have a nice Thanksgiving.

I have a Battery Tender jr. and use the same outlet in the trunk. Works fine for me. Perhaps your RT battery is fully charged or you're not making a good connection. Cig. lighter in trunk is always hot so there should be no reason why this isn't working.

:agree: That plug is supposed to be hot all of the time... You could always try plugging something else into it just to make sure though...
Otherwise I'd bet that your connection just isn't quite up to snuff... Try hitting the plug with a bigger hammer! :shocked: No! I didn't say that; did I??:roflblack: Let us know how this issue is resolved! :thumbup:

Your battery tender is not sensing sufficient voltage at the connection to the vehicle. First, I would hook up the charger with the alligator clips, to the jumper terminals under the seat. If the red light goes on steady (or the green light comes on), you probably have an adapter issue. The adapter is not making good contact at the outlet. Be sure that it is fully seated, and try twisting it a bit to make a better connection. If those steps fail, you may have a loose connector on the Spyder, a blown fuse, or a bad outlet. Be aware that some cigarette adapters also have their own internal fuse, too, in addition to the Spyder fuse.
