• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2011 RTS SM5 First Ride impressions...................

Well it was supposed to rain for the next 4-5 days so booked the afternoon off work and went for a ride. Other than bringing it home from the dealer last Saturday have not been on a true "ride" yet. Went out and put about 100 miles on the old odometer.

This thing is flat out just a whole lot of fun, for sure I appreciate the frustration some experience with dealer service, BRP customer service etc but man you can't argue the "fun factor" when all is going well! Performance suprised me in a positive way as the Spyder is no light weight by any means but the Rotax makes it a lot of fun. Could it use some more motor.............maybe but I'm an old fat guy maybe its enough at this point of my life? Got more comfortable as time went on and it suprised me again how much you can push this thing into the corners, it "sticks" fairly well. Ride comfort was OK but my butt did start to burn a little, gonna look for some hwy pegs so I can stretch the legs out a bit and take the pressure of my butt. The stock set-up restricts your ability to move around so more options will help. All the creature comforts are nice and seem to work well, radio, electric windshield and power steering all greatly appreciated and BRP seems to have it right for the most part. Mirrors are actually functional and rival any mirror for vision that you will find on any car. Made a few stops to pick-up a few items and man the storage is awesome and well thought out. Side loading saddle bags...............hmm I like top loaders but maybe just need to get used to them a little?

Now fuel consumption............it is new and I suspect will improve but, to all our US friends please continue to protect and secure the worlds oil supply as this thing is far from frugal! Computer "boot up" time is frickin slow but got used to turning the key on before I geared up (helmet and gloves) so I didn't look like a newbie tryin to figure out how to start it? Brake pedal is quick to access for sure but I can see how people can accidentally ride the brake without realizing it. Got used to being "duck" stanced on my right foot.

One warning to all the anti-social people out there, you may not want to purchase the Spyder. Everytime I would stop I was approached by curious on lookers wanting to know, what, where, who and how much? They are for sure attention getters so be prepared, I enjoy talking so this will be a positive feature to ownership. One guy got a little upset, his wife just wouldn't leave, pretty sure it was my charming personality and good looks :dontknow:

Cheers
