• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a question about the 2014 SM6 clutch, is is hydrolic or cable? The wife and I are trying to decide if we want an SM6 or an SE6 if we come back to the Spyder RTS.
We are going to test ride an SE6 to see if we might like it then try to make up our minds.
Thanks for any info.

But the SM is so much more fun, in my opinion. And I never had any of the issues that seemed to be common on the SEs.

+100 and I ride every day in traffic to and from work. Doesnt bother me to shift manually and I get to downshift where and when I want.

:agree:
Perhaps the sdmonishments to keep the revs up; lest the clutch plates take a toasting? :dontknow:
On the SE-6; that's no longer a needed discussion anyway...

My wife and I both have manuals. We just like the riding experience more with the feel of a "real" transmission.

Operating the SE5 at too low an RPM takes care of 99% of complaints about it. Too low of an RPM with the SE5 is akin to holding the clutch lever of the SM5 half way in while cruiseing.

Pick the one that suits your wants. They both have their high points.

Let's see..!!

What you are looking at is clutch lever or no clutch lever..se6 has a semi automatic shift no clutch lever and no foot shift paddle shifting on the left bar. The sm6 has hydraulic clutch lever and foot shifter. Now they both work equally well. It's a preference to driving weather you want one or the other. Touring cruising freeway type the se6 seems to be the choice. Myself, backroads twistees hills sm6 is the only way..test ryde them both this will clear it up for you...

I have had the SM5 on only one :spyder2:. That was the 2008 pre-semi auto days. All other :ani29:,s have had the SE5. Never encountered any shifting issues other than the linkage coming undone on my 2010. That was an easy fix.

These days with arthritis issues, a clutch is not a good option for me. I do not have a problem recommending SE5. No chance to try the SE6 here--so others opinions will have to do on them.

ANd you can down shift through the twisites on an SE just like you can on an SM. I had an RS SE5 and had a ball riding through teh twisities. you just have to know what your doing and its not hard to figure out theres just less moving parts on your end. I rode motorcyles in my youth and I prefer the SE.
