• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2020 RTL - is that really some type of bumper up front?

Is the front of the 2020 RTL actually a bumper? It does not look like it could take much of a impact. The question was tweaked the other day when I pulled into a parking space with a parking block?

Is a actual bumper made to at least protect the plastic, like a nerf bar or something?

TIA

No, it is not.

Earlier models had aftermarket bump skids available that acted as bumpers.
As of this writing, I know of no such device available for the 2020+ model year.
I don't include the plastic Halo unit. INHO, that's primarily a light display. The hard plastic will most likely break under any impact.
What we need is a polypropylene bump skid similar to previous models that will protect the front, and is tough enough to withstand an impact.
I am eagerly awaiting someone to provide one.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

I took the "nose" off my RTL to put screen over the factory grilles and paint the radiator fins black; saw nothing that looked protective in that module. No crush zones, no steel reinforcement, no skid plate, ....nothing that would, appear to, add protection, just plastic and airspace.

I kinda figure that if' i"m headed towards any impact, I'm gonna be relying on reflex and prayer.

NO !!!!!! .... a few years back, a Vendor designed something closer to an actual Bumper that attached below the plastic of the Frunk..... However IMHO it wouldn't take much of a HIT to allow damage to the Frunk ..... I liked the idea and made some structural changes so that it would attach to the main Frame ..... But apon further examination of the idea, I realized that this would likely damage the FRAME, which would be a lot more expensive to repair. So I scrapped the whole idea ...... If you look into the history of the Gov't. " mandated " 5 MPH bumpers for veh's ( in the USA.) they evolved from spring/shock mounted heavy duty steel bumpers - to what they have now - " vinyl skins " backed by injected FOAM on a steel frame...... Mike ..

It's known as a makeshift crumple zone.
