2200+ miles to have a burger and see a movie?

I was telling a guy that I was riding out to Hollywood on the Spyder to see a movie and have a burger at the Bob's Big Boy. The look I got was classic.:D

It is kinda crazy though to ride all that way for this event. Last year was great when we rode to the factory and got to see the Spyder being built and meet all the workers and head mucky mucks there. The fact that we all rode there in the rain at a pretty fast clip was cool too. I don't see this BRP event coming close to that one but we'll see. They said that it was going to be really special and worth attending but I don't know what kind of rabbit they will pull out of the hat to make it special. As it stands we're going for a burger and a movie and a ride "destination TBD" :dontknow:

Like they say, it's the ride, not the destination. :doorag:

Well, when you put it like that it does sound silly.

I'm sure it will be a great time. Hope you meet lots of new people. Between the ride and new friends it should be worth it.

Better be one heck of a good burgery though!!!!;)

So that is one more thing and at Valcourt we had to pay for that dinner.

Well that's worth the trip then :D
I got a feeling this free movie and dinner is going to cost me about $2000K

Yeah, this is going to be a very expensive "dinner and a movie" But we just have to do this. As you mentioned, it is about the ride and we are really looking forward to it.

+1 times two. :D We made a lamonster style lunch run two weeks ago, 150 miles one way for some pizza. So a few thousand miles for a couple of dinners and a movie seems reasonable to me. :D

Fun! On that trip, I would have to hang around long enough to get hungry again so I could visit In-N-Out Burger! :D There is now way, I'm going to CA, AZ, or NV without getting a Double Double Animal Style!

People look at me weird when I tell them that I rode 120 miles to go the the Jamba Juice 5 miles from my house. They just don't understand. :)

When we make a 50 mile one way trip for ice cream, the same dazed look asks, what's wrong with the local ice cream? Ice cream sundae, $5; gas round trip $8, riding the Spyder for two hours, priceless. :D

Even before having the Spyder I would drive 3 hours and back to Chicago just to have a Portello's hot dog. Drove there. Ate hog dogs. Came home.:D

The destination isn't the most important part- it's the trip. I would go - but I would take my sweet time on the road. The massive hours I've heard that some of you are going to put on (14 hrs a day) is far beyond what most could do safely - at least I couldn't. I can handle about 8 hours riding in a day and then I'm beat.

I used to be a 'hurry up and get there' kind of person - not since I got the Spyder!

Ride safe and make that burger count!

You want to trade bills? :dontknow:

Try 3 round trip aireline tickets, car rental, two Harley rentals, meals for 3 for 5 days, 2 hotel rooms for 4 nights and then give aways.

Stop complaining two grand sounds really cheap from where I'm standing. :lecturef_smilie:

I liked that place when I lived in Chicagoland. Are they still around?

Oh you must have missed the big ordeal when they were trying to.... :yikes:

Well let's just say it was not a very affordable program. :dontknow:

Needless to say we WON'T be renting Spyders while out there. :yikes:

As a business man I understand profit is not a dirty word. :2thumbs:
However, as a consumer I felt rape was. :gaah:

If you attempt for 50CC Iron Butt and drive 50 hours (or less) non-stop each way, save 20-30% of the total cost. :D
