No, Spydee is still here. Wife person had a Piagio MP3-500 that she was never comfortable on, sooooooo, Monday she traded it in on a 2013 Ural Tourist. She's wanted a sidecar rig since she was 14 (a long long long time back). We pick it up Friday and I'm informed that I will at least get to drive it home and out to the practice range. I suspect after that it'll be a long time before I warm its seat again. Which is okay with me and the Spyder.

It's a different beast..never liked riding them but they are cool for those that do..!! It's real easy to lift that outrigger wheel.. Have fun you may never want to warm that seat again..!! :roflblack:

My Spyder dealer is also a Ural dealer. I hear that they are fun on dirt but not so much on pavement.

I'd like to haave an Ural...think they are cool...wish we live where there were mountains and back roads...our back roads are flat and oyster shells...

You will like the Ural--but it is totally a different ride. A sidecar rig acts differently on right and left turns. You will also find the Ural to be pretty good up to 55 mph--but not much beyond that.

If I had the extra cash and room--I would probably have one in my stable.

There seems to be almost as much "cottage" industry for Urals as there is for :spyder2:s. Not sure about the wash thing yet likely something to do with their off road side. Linda's is a Tourist 1 wheel drive so no off roading and it's shiney glossy black so someone is going to have to clean it after riding:yikes:.

Yesterday was a Blast

We took off in Linda Ural, went to a big empty parking lot and she got to play about an hour and a half driving around getting shifting down, she's getting real smooth. Then we went out with friends for dinner and home in the dark. Gotta get the head lamp aim corrected and likely add more lights.

It'll be nice to soon have her riding her own rig.

Congrats!!!!!!!! I LIKE the Urals!!!!! wish they had a bit better highway speeds, but if I lived in an area with back country roads and logging trails, I'd have a Patrol T model...with power to the hack wheel!!!!!!.. then find a way to mount an airhead BMW engine!!!! LOL

I had a Ural GearUP for 5 years. 2wd and reverse are great assets. That said, the Ural is labor instensive with lots of preventitive maintenance required. The work is simple as the technology is really old school. I just got tired of the dirty hands and knees and I was never really comfortable with the reliability. I never had a problem with a breakdown but it was always in the back of my mind. Sold it last May.

Bought my 2012 RT A&C and never looked back.
