I had a feeling when I rode into work this morning that today was basically going to suck! First I almost got jacked by a cager on the way in (that was a clue right there!) but got into work OK. Then it goes to... well, you know from there!!
I decided when the day was done I was going for a ride and try to melt this day off of me. When I stepped outside it was well over 100 degrees out in San Jose and I wondered if it was worth it. My temp sensor, which because of its location is measuring basically track temp, was 111! But I was determined. If they can do it in Texas, Arizona and the great South, then I need to man up and get it on!
I took off and the journey began. It was tough sledding at first and 14 was running kinda hot. But we pushed through and made it to the mountains. Did some great technical stuff up there and suddenly I started to forget about the 10 hours of torture I had just endured. The Gs, the sounds, the smells, the trees! and then, finally, to the coast. Once I hit the coast, everthing changed. The tension started to melt with every mile down the coast. It was even more incredible than usual. Visibilty was almost unlimited. I made it almost to Watsonville, and then turned around and rode all the way up the coast to about 8 miles south of San Francisco. I found a spot in Pacifica, my home town, to pull over and snap a few pics just as the sun was setting. (attempting to load pics...)
Well, just like the day, I can't post the darned pics for some reason. I could do it before, but whatever. I will create an album and you can check them out there. For a cell camera, they came out pretty good!
I sat there and watched the sun fade away into the sea, at peace at last. With the Sun safely put to bed I left and pressed on. And when I got over the top of the hill I got greeted by a big full moon that followed me all the way home. It was a fantastic ride. 3.5 hours, about 160 miles and a great way to get over a messed up day man. Like I said before, this is the Spyder experience. Thank you, 14!
