• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A little advise

Ok I am sure both of my questions have been beat to death but I really don't want to search the forum for answers😈
#1 battery tender, you think necessary in SC? Doesn't really get that cold here, I expect to be able to ride pretty much year long.

#2 shifting, I see that at like 60 I am at 3000+ rpm, most of my riding is 45, 55 city stuff and back road. Basic info appreciated . 1 up riding what speed or rpm to up shift? Bike sounds like it's whining if I don't up shift but I don't want to lug it down.

Let's see..!!

as for the tender...if your ryding all year long you don't need it unless your loaded with electrical mods. I go weeks and never have a problem...
as for shifting on the triple 2,500-3000 is a good place..

I use that little thingie, I think it's called ECHO or something like that. Not religiously of course but it sure helps the gas mileage . And remember that the three cylinder Rotax has only so many RPM's before it goes to the junkyard. Don't waste em!:joke: (Regardless what kind of oil you use)
Or if it feels good shift if not don't shift. It's kind of a personal thing and depends on how much buzzing you like on your bottom side if you can still feel your bottom side with the BRP standard seat.:yikes:

Well you get the drift, know what I mean?

BTW welcome to the Zoo. Maybe the F3 does not have the Echo, don't know.

Battery tender recommended if you are not going to drive your :spyder2: for about two or three weeks in between.

The triple is okay with 50 mph in 6th gear. 65 mph will spin the tach at about 3,500 rpm. You are not lugging and will find there is plenty of reserve power if you give the throttle a twist. If you get to low a speed for a particular gear, the :ani29: will downshift automatically. I am talking SE6 here and not the manual.

Most of us shift the 1330 at about 3000 - 3500 rpms.

A lot of us do not like the ECO mode. That has you shifting at about 2,500 on most shifts. Its a bit of a pain watching for the green "permission" arrow. You will get to know the sound and feel of your engine, and where it likes to be shifted.

Downshifts are handled very well by the engine all on its own.

You have also been given some alternate advice. Use what works best for you.

1st to 2nd sweet spot for me is 2600
2nd to 3rd to 4th 2600- 2800
4th up any where above 2600 works great.

If you've got the SE-6 transmission; you'll never hurt anything by shifting it as early as the computers will let you do so...
You're geared a fair amount lower than my RT, and I can shift as low as:
1st to 2nd: 10mph
2nd to 3rg: 20 mph
3rd to 4th: 27 mph
4th to 5th: 32 mph
5th to 6th: 39 mph

Thanks

thanks for the input, I have the sm by choice. I do have the tender but haven't installed yet, guess it can't hurt 😀, still hope to see some folks here from Greenville SC I know you are out there

I never shift (Manual) the F3 till 3,500- 4,500 and Many times higher than that? Is this becoming a Senior Center or Something?:yikes:

I bought my bike as a "toy" and while I don't beat on it, I do like to have fun and drive it as such. I tend to ride in the 4000-5000 range, there it sounds good, has power at a moments notice, and pulls hard. I will hit 6th gear on long highway trips but for the most part I hardly even hit 5th.
I don't care much about gas mileage I did not buy it with that in mind at all. My trucks gets 16 mpg on a good day, my thought is I can drive my F3 in 1st gear forever and still do better, lol.
I won't ever use ECO mode, I tried it once, it had noticeably less power, and the granny shift pattern was a joke in my opinion.

BTW I drove my 09 RS pretty much the same way with a modified engine and traded it in with 35k on with no engine trouble. BRP makes their motors to spin and they love to do it for you!

Bottom line drive it however you like, the rev limiter will let you know when you are out of hand.
