A relaxing Sunday ride.

I went for a little Sunday ride today and was trying to think of a term to describe it, when the following possibilities came to mind:

• Forest Gump might say “…to nowhere particular”.
• An old sailor might say “I went gunkholing”.
• Australian Aborigines might say “I went walkabout”.
• Robert Frost might say “I took the roads less traveled”.

I'll just say that I followed the Sypder’s nose for 100 miles with no plan in mind and it was relaxing. Except when, on a narrow road, and riding slowly, 4 deer came flying out of the woods from my right, but I was able to completely stop. The 4th one would have hit me broadside at speed. That would have hurt!

If I'm even vaguely up for it, & Buster (my Assistance Dog/Supervisor ) doesn't express any objections, we often go 'stooging', or sometimes even 'stooging around', which sounds very much like your "following the Sypder’s nose".

Just poking around on any roads that take our fancy, sometimes riding 'spiritedly', sometimes just poking along. Either way, I enjoy it a lot, and Buster certainly seems to also. What better way to start the day?!

These posts make me wanna get my Spyder out, but this Wisconsin weather can't make up its mind whether it wants to rain or shine, lol

Another term is what my father used to call it. It is what he called going for a ride and not knowing where you are going.
He called it "Scooter-Pooping". It would be after baling hay all day. He would say, If you boys unload that last 2 wagons of hay and stack it in the barn, you can get cleaned up and go scooter-pooping tonight, but be home by mid-night. We gotta bale some more tomorrow."

Ain't going nowhere today. Heat index is 106 and humidity is 98% right now, and it is getting hotter. I would have took a shower and went to town after working in that kind of heat all day when I was about 16 or 17, but there just don't seem to be no place I want to go that bad now.

I went for a similar ride yesterday and only the first 20 or so minutes, 8:40 a.m. EDT, were pleasant while I was getting the annual safety inspection. When I returned to La Casa I was soaking wet, as if I'd been in a sauna for three hours. It was still a good ride.
