There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Advice on front tires

Have noticed a lot of wear on the right tire left inside edge....just the left ridge. The rest of the tire and the left wheel is perfect with what can be expected from 12000 km. Any thoughts on cause of this wear? What must i look for and ask for when i take it in to the shop?

Any advice on non-spyder tires will be great.

I suspect you have some worn suspension parts. Uneven tire wear on both tires is usually an alignment (toe-in) problem. Uneven wear on one tire is usually a sign of loose, damaged, or worn suspension components. Possibilities include the A-frame bushings, shock bushing, tie-rod ends, or ball joints. You could have a combination of problems. You need to have a competent dealer do a thorough inspection. Any components that exhibit any play should be replaced. The Spyder should be aligned after any parts replacement, and the steering sensors zeroed.

I had the same problem on my '10 RTS. When I had it aligned, the right front wheel was toed out substantially more than the left.

CONTINUES

AND THE SAGA CONTINUES....
this problem happen far too often, and BRP needs to address it... both my front tires wore out on the inside, when i brought it back i was told, "this is normal for these bikes"... they switched the tires from side-to-side and i rode off... then upon mounting new tires, the problem surfaced again, so i had them do an alignment (at my cost, $75) and the problem went away... i would recommend to anyone with this issue to DEMAND an FREE alignment, and ask that the service manager report it to BRP... 'squeeky wheels gets the oil', as they say....

no help

I agree. I had the same problem, no help from dealer that sold me my rt. At 8000 miles both front tires slick on inside. I had to pay for two new tires, labor, and alignment. Thankfully i found a better dealer closer to home that cares about customer service.

15000 mi on 2011 RT

Noticed the wear on the inside of the right front and decided it was time to rotate the tires. Dealer rotated (remounted) the front two to maintain rotation direction and hope to get another 5,000 before we get new ones this summer. Any good choices for the next set?

'12 RT Ltd.

:spyder: Front tires seem to be the same issue as with a car. Once the wear starts it is hard to stop without an alignment and/or parts. That being said, 10,000 miles on the rear tire, as I have and it is bald.:banghead: :( Won't pass the safety inspection and I believe more miles should be accomplished before replacement. But, as a bike tire, I can only assume the compound is softer than a car tire. Has anyone changed the rear bike tire with a car tire and if so, how was/is the ride? Thanks

Same exact thing for me. Cowtown aligned it and I installed 2-new front car tires, 12,000 miles later and the tires are still like new. The tech that aligned it said it was the worst he had seen and he had done over 300 so far.

I forgot to mention that the '09 GS that I traded in on the RTS had 9500 miles on it and showed no unusual wear on the front tires.

lucky on alignment

My 2010 RTS was bought new in 2011, 13,000 miles later the front tires are still new looking! I am sure some tread is gone, but it is gone in a uniform fashion. I have always been amased at how smooth the spyder is on the highway. I have not experienced the problems many have talked about on the forum in regards to wandering around on the highway being overly twichy etc. The only mod to the bike is I removed the origional shocks (i think everyone agrees the 2010's were supplied with a weak shock) and installed 2011's on it. It firmed up and did make it more stable, cross winds, trucks etc. But the front tires? Absoluty no ware or alignment problems.
