• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Akrapovic exhaust?

Has anyone heard the new aftermarket exhaust.
How do they sound?
I see there is two to choose from.

I have made enquiries here in New Zealand to get one of these, but at this point they cant tell me when I may see it
or how much it costs, but I like the look of it, and I'm sure if it is an Akrapovic it will sound just fine :D

The Akrapovic exhaust system is shown on page 62 of the new BRP catalog. Two models, the Sport Silencer and the Sport Touring Silencer. Both cost $899.99 each (ouch!).

At $900.00 dollars and only 80 peak db. I can toot louder than 80 db, and save myself almost a grand !!!!!! :roflblack:

They sound pretty good and I have one on order (back ordered till March 12) but what a terrible name. It's pronounced a-krap-avitch :opps:

I also understand besides the weight savings the free flow design helps the spyder run cooler and hense provides less heat to the rider. But that's just my understanding some one more familiar with it then me might chime in. :)

DECIBALS ? ? ?

Sorry Mike..... I have no numbers, but a stock RT, RS and ST including this new pipe are legal pipes. That means they can't exceed 80 db buy federal law. I must admit, I have never heard this new pipe, but if it says it legal, I don't want it. I'm sure Lamont is right that the new pipe pitch/tone sounds better than stock and I won't dispute that. But........ It's legal so it does not comply with the strict law breaking regulations of Arntufun. :roflblack:

  • Federal law sets volume restrictions based upon a motorcycle's year of manufacture. A motorcycle manufactured through the year 1983 may not exceed 83 decibels. Motorcycles manufactured from 1986 must be quieter, as the bike may not exceed 80 decibels. Federal law prohibits tampering with the exhaust system of a motorcycle.

  • Several states also provide for restrictions on a motorcycle's exhaust levels. For example, the Illinois Section 902-101 requires a muffler to remain on a motorcycle, and any muffler on the bike may not emit noise levels greater than the factory muffler.

A Hindle is not a street legal pipe, exhaust decibel restrictions do not apply to produce them. You run them at your own risk of getting a ticket. The HMF pipe I run puts out over a 100 decibels at Higher RPM's referencing from a Youtube video posted. :ohyea:There are other pipes that are louder........... Vrummmmm Vrummmmmmm !!!!

Question: Is there a difference in the sound level between the two? How about the weight of the two silencers? Horsepower levels?

Does Yosh have a system for the RTs? :dontknow:
If they do; it might just be a pure bolt-on, no muss, and no fuss setup right now...
