• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yeah tatt2r, Me too!! I rode to work today. It got up to a blazing 30 degrees and will probably be in the mid 20's when I get ready for the ride home. But the roads were reasonable clear, once I got out of my driveway and neighborhood. I had to do it. See, you can ride all 12 months of the year, even in the north.

HIGH FIVE TO YOU MY DEAR.....:2thumbs::coffee:

I think I'm going to cry. My driveway still has at least four inches of snow pack, and the street has a couple inches of snow and ice. To add insult to injury, they salted our street today. The main road is better, but still icy and salty. The major arteries are starting to clear, though. I missed a ride for January, and who knows about February. My hat is off to Tatt2r and Dltang :2thumbs:, but you guys can have that salt. It does mean and nasty things to a motorcycle! I guess I'll just be content with my memories for a while yet.

Hey Tatt2r, since you went out on Groundhog Day, maybe your painter can paint the Spyder up like old Punxatawny Phil. :D Did you see your shadow?

I wish it were as easy as merely rust and damaged paint. Salt and alloy parts, especially with added heat, make for some incredibly nasty corrosion. There's not enough protection for the engine on the Spyder, or any of my motorcycles, for my timid soul to be willing to venture out onto salty streets. We live in an area where cars don't last ten years. I'd never get an alloy-engined motorcycle to last me for over 40 years like I have, if I played in the salt. A ride may restore mental balance, but worrying about my beloved machinery could send me to a shrink just as easily as being trapped inside the house. :D You guys rock, and I applaud you, but I am just a conservative, timid fella. I have high hopes that riding weather will return in a couple of weeks. I'll bide my time.

:agree: I'm with you Scotty. I could not enjoy the ride knowing that my machine was being eaten alive under me.:( The closest my Spyder will come to being on the road is this upcoming weekend, when I will be trailering it to the World of Motorcycles Expo here in London. I will have it on display with our Motorcycle Ride for DAD (prostate cancer fundraiser) display booth. I will post pics of the show and display.

Cheers,

Bruce

I hear ya tat. I am not aiming for trophies either, I just like keeping my machines as pristine as possible. Like Scotty, I can't stand the thought of subjecting my Spydie to rock salt. My 1999 Concours still looked like new when I sold it to buy the Spyder, even though I rode it for many miles over nine years.
I am truly pleased that you are having so much fun with your Spyder. I'll leave the honours of year-round riding to you and Deb, and see you on the road some time after the blessed spring rains have arrived and washed the poisons away!

Cheers,

Bruce

No, they've pretty well all dried up here. Our local airport is Air Guard, also with the WMU aviation school, the Waco plant, and Duncan Aviation, so that is busy indeed. Only guys I know with hangars live in airparks. One in Fl and one in MI. I'll survive...the forecast is for some warming next week. We may be back in the saddle before March, at least.

Maybe it's just our age (Scotty and Bruce) that puts us in a more conservative position. Can't help but notice that we are in that over 55 age group. Not saying that older is wiser, just maybe that older is more patient. I too was all set to ride at least one day each month, but that will now be my plan for next winter.
