There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Any ideas on adding an aftermarket USB for phone charging during travels on our 2017 RT?

New to the Spyder world. Just purchased a 2017 RT and plan to add some miles with my bride. I see there is a USB port in the trunk, but understand it is for connectivity and not charging.

Any ideas on adding an aftermarket USB for phone charging during our travels? Thanks for any help you could provide!

All USB ports can be used as chargers including the Spyder. I don't know what the wattage is for USB port on the Spyder so I'd limit to one device at a time - cell phone or battery pack

I went straight to the battery so I can use it whether Spyder is running or not. Works great for topping off comms while your are in eating lunch.

I went with a powered docking station from Slingmods.com. They have them for a variety of Spyder models and years.
They mount to the handlebars and include instructions for wiring them for power.

This link is to the 2010 to 2019 Spyder RT model:

I bought a small round waterproof USB charging port and dash mounted it. I then used a kit to battery mount it via relay, so it was key activated.

On my 2019 RT, I bought the center mounted Y shaped port with covered USBs on the left, and covered cig lighter on the right (useful for tire inflater) that includes cable (Everyone sells it), and ran it to the OEM accessory wires behind the right hand rubber grommet in the frunk. Easy peasy.

I did a very simple hack. Bought a USB port that fits in the cigarette lighter adapter in the rear trunk and ran a 12 foot cable from the trunk; under the seat and exposed the charging end through the glove box where it can reach the phone mounted on the handlebar.

You are new to the Spyder world and you want to log some miles with the bride. You must be at the top of your A-game with the pillion prize behind you. Put the phone in the trunk and let it charge. Return the calls when you stop for a break.
