Anyone know the exact Speaker sizes on a 2022 RT Limited?

Good morning,
I'm looking for the exact speaker sizes (all 6) on a 2022 RT Limited.
I would like to switch them out to better quality/sounding aftermarket speakers.
Does anyone on the forum know the exact sizes?
Does anyone on the forum know if you can replace the speakers with a slightly larger size? If so what size?
Any recommendations on speakers?
Thanks Arcamguy

I can't tell you the exact sizes ..... however I swapped out the speakers on my 14 RT to 5.25 for the rear .... that was the Max size that would fit in the housing ( with some minor trimming ) .... they then matched the front 5.25...... good luck .... Mike ..... You could PM " Joel the Biker ".... He has done some major work on His Sea to Sky model ....

I have not heard of anyone who has successfully changed them out without issues due to the ohms rating on the stock speakers and aftermarkets not matching If you hear of anyone please post it.
I went in and played with the treble, base and mid controls and seem to have found a happy medium. Did you try that as well?

OK I'll post it....ME ..... I did it back in 2014..... After BRP ( screwed ) up the radio system ( 2018 ) to the best of my knowledge the only person here that has figured out a way of correcting it ( without breaking the bank ) is " Joel the Biker " ...... your welcome.... Mike

I too found properly rated powersports speakers at Crutchfield https://www.crutchfield.com/ That dramatically improved my '13 and '18 RTL speakers. Not sure if they've spec'd the latest models, but a call to them should help you find better speakers that are matched to your newer Spyder.
The online parts breakdowns https://www.powersportswarehouse.com/oemparts/a/cam/61e85eda855d4625905d071c/electric-audio-system show 4.5" front speakers (Part No - 710005433) with a Loudspeaker Tweeter. (Part No. - 710006796) in the dash, connected to the Amplifier 6 x 20 Watts (Part No - 710006566) The Top Box is the same as the F3's, but the parts breakdowns don't list the actual speaker, just the housings etc.
Pretty sure my Rear Speaker upgrades were the Kicker 10PS5250 5-1/4" 2-way motorcycle speakers (2-ohm) Item #: 20610PS525

I think the stock speakers sound best given a better input than the FM receiver. Streaming Bluetooth audio makes the system sound much better than anything else you could do to it. At the end of the day it’s still a motorcycle with small speakers that are incapable of moving large amounts of air where you can not only hear music but feel it. If music is such a high priority the Spyder is the wrong choice to achieve that objective.

Yea , one of the reasons I went with a base F3. I couldn't see spending any extra money for a "stock sound system" as they all sound like crap once you get out of a cage unless you blast the surrounding area.

Just go with bluetooth and good helmet speakers.

Inputing HD sound makes the stock system much better. I use Sirius bluetoothed to the bike. Works great. If it's an easy change out I say go for it. Tom :spyder:

Well I don't think it works that way. You can have the Best receiver on the planet , but if you attach them to speakers from JC Whitney I'm pretty sure they will sound like Junk ...... JMHO .... Mike

Let’s just consider the audio system on the above mentioned Spyder as equipped from the factory. The speakers are not the problem with the transmission from the receiver, they are just there reproducing sound from the input of the weak FM receiver and its antenna’s ability to capture from the source. When I stream audio the clarity, power level, channel separation and stereo effect become more noticeable, improved and more open sounding. This is a motorcycle, not a car and like most motorcycles you can’t expect too much more.

Changing the speakers in a home stereo system is a huge benefit and probably the most important. Changing the source is also important in replication of the original recording. On a motorcycle your options to add bigger more powerful sounding speakers is very limited for a dramatic change. Finding replacement speakers to work within the confines of the amplifier is even harder. The easiest thing and least expensive is to stream the audio to the receiver to be played through the system or to get sound delivered to the helmet. When I change my input source from radio to streaming also avoid blasting commercial content, needless DJ chatter, news and other non-entertainment that is distracting. Listening to pre-recorded streaming I always know what I’m going to get with no sudden surprises. I believe streaming is the best option on the Spyder and the factory amplifier and speakers provide more than adequate sound quality. If you happen to be a musician, audiophile or have very high levels of expertise and expectations prepare to be disappointed but for the average listener I think you will be impressed with all things considered.

Question ?... how do you think a Ferrari or Porsche or a Vette would perform on .... recap TIRES ?????? .... your confusing what you actually HEAR with what produces that sound. Poor signal input = poor sound. No matter how fantastic the rest of the electronics are ..... 70,000 mi. ago I put four 2 OHM speakers ( JBL ) on my RT that had 4 OHM speakers. I was told by a few members ( who claimed to be experts ) that this would FRY the radio system..... Well I still have the OEM radio system, which still produces fantastic sound ..... this is not theory ... this is real ...... Mike

Wow, we have lots of differing opinions on the matter and all have some very helpful information. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to respond. I have read everyone's post and took a little of everyone's advice to research the audio system further. This is what I came up with.
Front Dash of the RT Limited, speakers at the very top are (2/2.5 inch) tweeters.
The larger speakers right below the front tweeters are 4.5 inches speakers.
The two rear larger speakers are 5.25-inch speakers. I took off all of the speakers covers and used a tape measure on each one to get accurate measurements.
I spoke to an audio specialist at Crutchfield, they recommended Kicker motorcycle-rated speakers. Kicker has a 5.25-inch speaker and a 4-inch replacement speaker. He still working on finding a 2-2.5 inch motorcycle-rated tweeter. Kicker speakers come in both 2 ohms and 4 ohms in both sizes (5.25 & 4-inch).
For everyone's clarification, I only listen to streamed music Bluetooth from my phone to either my helmet or the Spyders audio system. I have never utilized the systems FM radio. Streamed music is quite superior to any other type of music platform!
I do believe that an upgrade in the speakers alone will improve the sound some. It will never be audiophile quality but an improvement nonetheless.
This is what I have to sell myself on. Is the investment of 500.00 plus to switching out the all speakers to better quality ones justify the improvement in sound?
Thanks Arcamguy

Thanks for your answering ... # 1.- I would try and get some advice from " Joel the Biker ", He is the only person I've read here that has solved the Speaker issues on the NEW audio system that BRP is using ...... # 2.- If you DON'T upgrade ALL the speakers the bad ones will over-power the better ones ..... #.- 3, get the 2 OHM models .... #5 - To save money eliminate the Tweeters completely and concentrate on the other FOUR , going to all 5.25 in will be best. ..... good luck , keep us informed .... Garbage in, garbage out. The Spyders receiver/antenna combo is inadequate and a choke on the existing amplifier and speaker system. Changing the input from the inferior radio reception to Bluetooth audio is a vast improvement. There is only so much you can do with the speakers that will work well with the existing amplifier and the new speakers will have no effect on listening to the FM radio as source. It’s a financial risk to throw money at it in hopes of improving sound from either input.

Sound quality is a personal perception. On my 2021 or 2022 RTL I have found it is not possible to accomplish adequate performance with over the air FM radio. The Can Am audio system on the Spyder has a very difficult time receiving local stereo stations that are easily to obtain on any cheap alarm clock radio by your bedside. The Bluetooth experience changes everything on the Spyder. The audio is much more dynamic, has better volume and more musical. The sound from FM is such an embarrassment it’s easy to understand why they left off the AM band. I believe the engineers and the accountants decided together that most owners would be streaming their music. Given the size constraints and all objectives the design was born.

I know this is an old thread, but it's the only one I saw that was specifically asking about the current generation RT speaker size.

I have a 20 RTL and I've removed the rear speakers. They are 4/4.5 with an opening in the body of 4.5. I haven't been able remove the front speakers yet, but the front face is measuring the same as the rear.

Are the 2022 speakers actually larger in size than the 20/21 RT/RTL?

I know you can use kicker 4 PS 2 ohm speakers. I would love to be able to put the 5.25 speaker in the rear with an adapter ring. But I can't seem to find the appropriate adapter ring. And I can't see how you would be able to put the 5.25 speaker in the front replacing the 4.5 before you start hitting the body, as I can't remove the current front speaker due to that close fit.

Has anyone found a speaker that is an upgrade to the tweeter?

Question; I read somewhere that the speakers are (supposed to be) 2 ohm, so I pulled one of the uppers on my 2020 RTL and used a multimeter to check the impedence; it was 3.9 ohms.

Doesn't that indicate a 4 ohm speaker?

If that is the case, it opens up the speaker choices alot!

I have a 14 RT but I think the rear OEM speakers were the same size ..... I changed them for JBL 2 ohm models that were 5.25 with only a bit of trimming to enlarge the OEM hole ..... the fronts were already 5.25 ( front ) so that swap out was easy..... No adapter ring was necessary ..... One way to find out speaker SIZES is to see what year and model spyder uses the same part number .... after-market parts sellers have this feature on their web sites .....Mike
