Need Help Installing Trailer Harness on My 2022 RT Ltd

Hi everyone,

I have a 2022 RT Limited, and I feel like I might be the only one with this model here in Denmark! I’m planning to install trailer wiring on my Spyder, but I don’t have the plug-and-play harness, so I’ll need to install it manually, and I’m not entirely sure how to go about it.

Unfortunately, there’s no one around to assist me, and even the importer doesn’t have much information, they mentioned this is the first Spyder they’ve imported from the USA.

If anyone has experience with manually connecting trailer wiring to their Spyder, I’d greatly appreciate any guidance. It would be incredibly helpful if you could share where and how you connected the cables, and if possible, include pictures for reference.

Also, does anyone know which connector is used for this, the big one located under the rear seat?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you for the link and suggestion!

However, that’s not the harness I’m looking for. I plan to wire it manually, so I’m trying to figure out where to tap into the power for the taillight, brake light, and turn signals.

If you have any advice or know where these connections are made, I’d greatly appreciate your help.

I have this harness from show chrome 16-125

Thanks again for taking the time to assist!

Separate the connectors and post pictures (at least four front back both sides) of the connectors and I might be able to determine OEM and p/n as BRP tends to use standard parts. I'll be looking for tiny letters and numbers.

The connector should have about 10 positions with one being fused power for the trailer interface to drive trailer lights without risking damage to Spyder lighting. The trailer fuse is a bit obscure but I think it's 10amp.

Here are some pictures of the connector.

Excellent -- same as my connector. I'm pretty sure I can get the OEM and p/n from my connector.

Do you want to build a jumper to feed your trailer adapter or do you want me to send you the pin numbers and wire colors which are probably the same as mine so you can tap into the correct wires?

The connectors are Delphi PA6-GB20-GF10. A good connector that's fairly easy to work with... if you use the correct tools. But probably expensive to buy just one of each.

An alternative is to tap into the wires going into the connector. I'd suggest the power side of the connector not the lighting side, because your trailer power (RFB F4 10amp) doesn't pass through like the other wires. From my service manual, the Bike-Side SC maps as follows:

OG/VT = RFB F4 10amp power+ (SC Red +)
BK (probably) = GND (SC Green -)
WH = Brake Lights (SC Red Brake)
OG = Tail Lights (SC Brown Running)
BN/YE = Right Turn Light (SC Blue Right Turn)
GY/PK = Left Turn Light (SC Orange Left Turn)

Note the Brake Light circuit has a direct connection to the ECM and any leakage voltage from the SC will trigger an ECM fault while riding. A diode and/or resistor may be needed to block or drain that voltage.

Just to confirm - your trailer has turn lamps separate from the brake lamps, correct? If so, consider this harness as an alternative to your SC:

If not consider this harness:

Thank you very much for your help,
I don't know so much about turn lamps are separated or not from the brake lamps, but i ordred this harness from show chrome and the Connectors from Delphi.

Oops we might have a problem here. Correctable but we need to find a path to that correction.

Countries differ on trailer lighting:

USA (4-wire): Red Tail Lamps, Red Brake+Left Turn Lamp, Red Brake+Right Turn Lamp, Ground

CAN (5-wire): Red Tail Lamps, Red Brake Lamps, Amber Left Turn Lamp, Amber Right Turn Lamp, Ground

AUS (6-wire): CAN + White Backup Lamps

What is your trailer lamps configuration? Don't just count the wires. Verify which ones perform which functions. Providing the OEM and model of your trailer would help along with photos of the connector and lamps.

I don’t have a trailer yet - it still needs to be custom-built.

First, I need to get the hitch approved for my Spyder. The regulations here in Denmark are very different, and it’s not easy to get it approved. If it doesn’t get approved, I don’t want to spend money on the trailer.
