• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Anyone using a Stand alone Apple CarPlay/Android Device? Any recommendations?

I've been looking at some of the standalone units for Apple CarPlay to connect on the bike. I'm wondering if anybody already has one, and can recommend a particular brand and model.

I have the 5" Carupride from Amazon. Been using it for about 2 months. It is working good enough, it has glitched two or three times requiring a restart. I have it Bluetoothed to the bike in place of my phone so the music and maps come out the bike's speakers (phone is Bluetoothed to the Carupride). I then also Bluetooth my phone to my helmet comms if I need to take a call. We don't always wear our modular helmets, so I like the sound out the bikes speakers.

There's a few things I learned, like adjusting the different volumes (GPS and music) within the unit itself that made a big difference. All in all, so far I would recommend it. I've read others using the 7" Carupride and happy with it too.

(Nice bike by the way, you have good tastes ;))

Thanks Jesster. That's one of the units I have been looking at too, although I would probably want the 7 inch version. I see that you have good taste also.

Have the 5" on order and should get this week. Ordered on the 16th of last month. Is in Chicagoland waiting for usps to pick it up. thought that the 7" would block too much of the instruments. Price after rebate was $189.00 with free shipping. Thought price was decent for a ACP that bluetooth to bike.

Adjacent to this thread. Has anyone had any luck with an Android <-> Carplay adapter? A friend of mine suggested that he looked into one a year or so back when a potential new car had only had A Auto and he was an iPhone guy. He didn't get one, but I didn't even think they existed. CP-AA from Smart World is one such device, but I have no idea if they really work.

FWIW, I have the INNOVV N1Pro. It's a bit (read lot) pricier than the Carupride, but I believe it is made to handle exposure to the elements better.

I had been using the Carpuride since last summer. It handled the elements(rain/sun) well. It would lose signal sometimes, maybe because of the locations I was in??? It would reboot quickly. Now I do not need it with the 2024 Spyder.

This adaptor supposedly connects to your phone and the carplay head on the bike, and I suppose, 'translates' android maps, calls, etc to display on the carplay screen. Not so sure about how seemless it might be. Basically its supposed to trick the display into thinking it, and thereby your phone, is an iPhone.
