• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Backfires

I just bought a 2008 Spyder with 7,000 mi. I have put about 300 mi. Just noticed its , all of a sudden, backfiring after releasing gas pedal. The weather has gotten much colder.

Anyone, any ideas ?

Check you y-pipe gaskets. They can be a cause. Beyond that we have to know some things about the Spyder. Stock pipe, if nnot what kind? Juice box? Any other intake or exhaust mods?

Y PIPE GASKETS

Welcome to our world....if it is those gaskets...the two smaller ones can be replaced with HONDA gaskets...they seem to last forever or close to it ...someone will chime in with part number.......Scotty maybe ??........MIKE..

Honda gasket # = 18392- MAM- 000. If that turns out to be the cause of the backfire :dontknow:, you'll need two' About 15 dollars for the pair.
But we need more info.

they help a lot but you have to make sure the mix isn't too rich. It took a decent amount of tweaking with my juice box to get it right...of course, each time there was a software update, BRP enriched the mixture anyway, so I had to pullback on the JB...I have it set pretty nicely now...great acceleration...decent mileage...

I did have the gaskets changed some time ago...not even too many miles on my bike and the stock were already coming apart...the Honda gaskets are the only way to go...heck, BRP should just use them when they make the bikes...would save a lot of headaches as the OEM really are junk...

Where is the gas pedal ??? Only :joke: I know what you mean. Follow the above advice to check your exhaust gaskets and if it has an aftermarket exhaust that is your problem. Your Spyder will be running to lean. The same thing happened to mine when I put a aftermarket pipe on, when the Spyder was not under load (letting off gas) it would backfire (POP). A 02 modifier corrected the problem.

But more info is needed to determine cause.

Honda gasket part number change

I ordered a set of Honda gaskets 18392-MAN-000. The parts bag has a sticker over this number with B891306 printed on it. This may apply only to Canada or not, I don't know.

Probably a dealer's stock number or something. The Honda parts numbering system is world-wide, and has been in the present format since the mid-sixties.
