"Battleship" was a pretty decent movie and opened my eyes a bit

Now my tastes in movies has already pretty much started with gunfights, car chases, explosions or pretty women, and then ended with aliens threatening the whole mess...
But you already knew that I'm not the deep thrinker that I pretend to be! :roflblack:
Well, the Missus was threatening to kill me if she had to watch another race, so Plan B: we rented "Battleship". Now the movie itself was pretty darn good when it comes to explosions and stuff, but what got me, was this one guy: Gregory Gadson. He was playing a Wounded Warrior who had lost both legs...
In my simple life, I was almost dismising all of it at computer genereated mumbo jumbo... but SOMETHING made me take another look...
This guy's the real-deal!
Colonal Gregory Gadson is the Commander of Ft. Belvoir, Va.
Of all the cool weapons and explosions in this movie, I think that he stole the entire show in the scene that follows this:
If you haven't seen it; I don't want to ruin any of it, but THIS guy is one TUFF ESSOBEE :2thumbs:

Pretty Awesome Scene...

Yep, he's our Post Commander here @ Fort Belvoir. Interesting story, I work right next to the Command HQ and usually work the swing shift. One day as I was getting off my wife's bike, Col Gadson's assistant was jogging by and stopped to talk to me about the :spyder2:. He said Col Gadson noticed it and was asking questions about it during a recent staff meeting. I was told they were discussing the Spyder and the options for disabled riders. I provided a quick run down of the Spyder (semi-automatic gears, 3-wheel foot brake w/ABS, VSS, etc) and explained how others have added the hand-brake option for disabled riders. I thought it was pretty cool that my wife's Spyder was the topic of Post Commander's staff meeting and told the assistant that Col Gadson could come next door to check it out any time he wanted. (Especially now that I've bought a 2nd :spyder2: and drive it to work EVERY day!!) My signature photo is of our "Spyder Twins" and was taken @ Tompkins Basin Recreation Area on Ft Belvoir, VA

Is he that scary in real life? When he was leaning in on that critter and giving it the "You owe me money and I'm here to collect it" look... I about well... never mind... :opps:

Movie was pretty cool. Did not find out til after seeing it that he was still active duty. Very inspiring individual.

I just watched that movie yesterday and loved it, thanks for posting I was planning on doing a search to see if he was real or not, very impressive would love to meet him.:cheers:

Thanks for the info on Battleship. That is on my "to see" list. We went to Expendibles 2 this weekend. There was a real high body count--but it was still a pretty good movie.

Yes, we did not ride this weekend--raining all day long and my spyder in the shop on Saturday for the cruise control switch repair.

Wow, that guy's been there and back.....not surprised to hear that he's a nice guy, he's got nothing left to prove.
Got to see that movie....even got the requisite sweaty, pretty lady!! :yikes:

Col Gadson was made an honorary Co-Captain of the NY Giants and also earned Super Bowl Rings for the inspiration he gave to the team, in the playoffs and in the last two Super Bowls the Giants were in and won.
