There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
Biker looking to 'defect' to Spyder - advice please?

Have no fears. Everyone is right on with the comments. I've had close to 20 two wheelers over the last 45 years and now have owned 3 Spyders. It appears the learning curve for an experienced biker is less than 500 miles to get used to the handling differences of the Spyder. I have not had any handling problems or mechanical things go bad with my Spyders in 35K accumulated mileage on the bikes. The important thing is buy from a reputable dealer that will give you service after the sale. Have fun with your Spyder. At 60+ my 2000cc Vulcan was just to heavy for me to heft around. I love the 3 wheels as I dont have to worry about dropping the bike or even putting my feet down. I have also grown to really like the semi-automatic shifting. I dont miss the clutch lever at all.

welcome 12k no problems period, may 28th weekend brp will be at ontario place for test rides with the 2010 models
8 months 5000 miles no real problems..tons of fun. Dont let the stories here scare you as with any purchase soemtimes there are lemons and of course here we like to discuss those issues to death. My one grip eis Bad dealer network and apparently service but there are exceptions out there..
2 Spyder family here - 1 RTS and one SM5 - 14200 miles on one and almost 3000 on the other - no real major problems - my dealers good about repairs - love it wife sold her Mustang GT for her RTS. She has no regrets. My pickup sits there getting petrified tires LOL LOL LOL. :2thumbs:

I guess it's a little like saying a Jeep has dubious handling.
Not in a New England snowstorm, it doesn't.
A Porsche has dubious handling.
Not on the Pacific Coast Highway, it doesn't. Different driving the jeep on the PCH, just as driving the Porsche in a snowstorm will be different from the Jeep.
Yeah, the Spyder is considered a motorcycle (at least in, what--47 US states?) but you need to think of it as a different animal.
When I am not whining about my weirdo steering or ryding in bad weather, I am loving this vehicle.

You know, ataDude, BRP probably would've sold twice as many Spyders, except for all the people who came on here, saw your "sidekick (TM)" and thought "Ooooh...I didn't know it needed a kickstand...Forget it."
Although I like it better now with the sparkles...

I spoke with the Dealer today and I'm going to look at the Spyder this weekend...
The Dealer won't let me test ride the Spyder, however, which is a bit of a setback, but at the end of the day, 'buyer beware', I guess! The condition of the Trike will be key, but it only has 10,000 Kms on it and it IS a Rotax mill, so no worries there.
These trikes just look so flippin' cool. I'm from the UK until 2002 and just before I came to Canada I very nearly bought a Grinnall...have you guys in North merica heard of these?
So, all in all, I'm already a fan of two front, one rear trikes and simply needed to be convinced. Thanks so much for all your input. I'll let you know...

John, Find another dealer. Any good dealer has demo spyders. Check out dealer network at BRP website.

If you weren't closer to the east coast I'd say come on down and I'll let you ride mine! I've already had several people at work riding it around the parking lot. I've got a couple people hooked. Now I just need to work out a finder's fee from my local dealer.
