BRP Connect - d/load the app, plug in, then listen to your phone? Do you like it?

Okay, I just read the manual, and if I’m reading it correctly, it sounds like once you download the app and have your phone plugged in to the USB in the glovebox, phone & helmet paired to the bike, you can listen to music off your phone to your helmet, through the BRP Connect app. Is that correct? For those that use the app, how do you like it? The BMW app on my bike was useless, so most folks just bypassed it and paired phone straight to helmet headset. Thanks

Some get it to work (it is called BRP Go now), and BRP are constantly addressing “gotchas” and improving functionality, Pikester, but for the majority, your last sentence is their experience, simply replacing “BMW” with “BRP’.

Thanks Pete! I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t just go with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. I’ve had it on multiple Honda bikes and it works perfectly.

“Multiple Honda Bikes” ???? Only the Goldwing has it. ACP requires a larger screen. To have it on all BRP vehicles would be a problem. ACP is just the same as BRP Connect (made by Bosche Global) and requires the same set up and not as simple as you want to believe. A search on YouTube and I found out ACP only works when the headset is connected.

Same thing goes for the BMW TFT system and HD Connect. They're just as complicated to setup and use. They all do the same thing which is to access phone apps needed when riding.

You do not need BRP Go to have music, just a Bluetooth connection and music playing on the phone. The Go app allows for other apps you need while riding a Spyder.

I just got this working. I ordered the Sena SPH10HD-FM-01 2 pack and installed on our half helmets. I was able to connect both to my phone and was able to listen to music but after I connected the intercom I lost my phones music. I ended up deleting the headsets from my phones Bluetooth. I then connected my phone to my Spyder and then both helmets under the Bluetooth connection setup on the Can-Am. You can then play your music via your Can-Am and it will play through your headsets. Just select helmets for the Bluetooth music menu. You don't even need the BRG Go App if you don't want to. We took two nice rides over the weekend and had our music and intercom.

Thanks,
James

Actually the 2018 and up Goldwing and the 2021 Africa Twin has it as well and all 3 that I owned worked without a hitch. So, I don’t need the app, just Bluetooth connection through the Spyder, correct.

Perfect. Thanks for passing this along!

For sounds and phone calls, yes just bluetooth. If you want to use GPS apps, other music apps, tracking and tire pressure apps, you need the cable.

You do not need the headset paired to the bike to get BRP Go in the dash or to use any of the apps. You do not need to dig down into the menu to enable the use of BRP Go.

Pikester,

I have the BRP GO app & I have my phone paired to that. I used to use the "Dash Radio" App. But I don't use it anymore because it uses up a lot of my data on the phone, so I listen to my radio (as of now it says on my phone, Other compatible apps: Dash Radio, AccuWeather, Wave navigation).

The BRP GO App is useless for me.

You mean you have your phone paired to the bike (not the Go app).

The idea is to use the On-Rode part as it gives use Apple Music and you can have all the downloaded music you want so as not to use up data service. Any streaming music will use cell service data. Maybe check to see if you can change your data limit.

The Wavve is for water craft and we use the On-Rode part as it’s for the Spyders. We have access to FOBO, either Sygic or Genius Maps or both along with Rever & ESR which are tracking/navigation apps and can be used if you have friends that use them.

Flamewinger, Yes, I do have my phone paired with my bike.

I have tried the On-Rode part, and it still uses up my data on Cell phone( I have a TracFone), I have added "data" to my phone. I'll check to see if I can change my data limit on my phone.

That was my Bad. I have Genius Maps, Rever, Dash Radio, Cardo Connect, AccuWeather, FOBO Bike v2, Sygic GPS Navigation.

I was able to get connected via the cable in the glovebox. HOWEVER, whenever I got a call, email notification, or a text on the phone, the whole thing would disconnect and I had to stop driving to reboot the app and reconnect. So unless there is some sort of software upgrade on the bike the addresses this issue, I had to decide that this app was too buggy to use.

I can BT the music on my phone to listed to music on the Spyder speakers. This works ok including using the buttons on the tank to manipulate tracks or the volume +/- on the left handlebar. But that's all I have found useful.

Yes, that’s the experience that causes many riders to simply use their phone with a GPS app….(or a GPS device), BT to their helmet, to get everything BRP Go provides, GRHorst. There are still too many gotchas with BRP Go for many riders, although some lucky ones don’t have any issues. For whatever reason, I’m one of the unlucky ones, who finds Go locking up on me for no apparent reason, necessitating a Spyder shutoff. I simply couldn’t be bothered any more, when I have a fully reliable alternative.;)

The headset should only be paired to the bike. Remove any headset pairing from the phone. Music. Phone calls and other sounds use BT. The screen showing apps and navigation info uses the data cable.

Flamewinger, so I deleted my headset pairing from my I-phone, paired my phone and my headset to the bike and I can hear/control music off my phone, but I’m not able to make or receive calls. I see the call come up, but I can’t hear anything. Any suggestions? Thanks, Pikester

Before I even turn the key on I make sure the music and phone volume is up all the way.

To make a call you push the joystick in and up to the phone and choose a number. (I wish we had Favorites instead of History). Push the joystick in or to the right to make the call. While in the call you can adjust the call volume.

When receiving a call you get the same blue screen and see a Red< or a Green > and you use the joystick to accept or decline the call.

I tend to look for an exit or place to pull over to finish the conversation.

Thanks! I’m sure it was user error, as I don’t think I used the joystick to make the selection.
