• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can 5.0 Bluetooth downgrade by itself?

I have an HJC 21B com set that connected to my Spyder just fine.
Now it will not connect. I’ve reset both the headset and the Spyder to factory settings and deleted past connections.

The 21B will connect to my phone and works well there; and I can connect earbuds to the Spyder; so, I suspect the headset is the problem.

The headset would intermittently lose connection to the Spyder and now it’s acting like I’m trying to connect something with 3.0 Bluetooth. Or, at least a Bluetooth that is lower than that the Spyder requires.

So, what I’m wondering is, can the 5.0 Bluetooth revert back to something below the required 5.0?

I would think that if Bluetooth works, it works; and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t??

Also, the intercom will not connect between this headset and wife’s headset any longer.

I have all the firmware updates installed on the Spyder and the headset.

I could be wrong, but I think all the bluetooth is backwards compatible.

Backward compatible is where the latest version of bluetooth connects to a previous version.
It has not downgraded, it has connected to an earlier version and the connection can only take
advantage of the abilities of the earlier version it connected to.

I don't think it can be fixed or by-passed. To get the full use of each device they should be equivalent to which ever has the latest version of bluetooth.

First, be sure that your device is not attempting to pair with some other device that might be in range, instead of the one you want it to pair with.

It is possible that the main difference in the two versions of bluetooth might be the method of pairing. If that is the big difference, you might be able to pair the two devices using the method of the older device, and it might work. Even if that works, you would need to go through the older pairing routine with each session.

I called RevZilla and opened a warranty claim so, hopefully they stand behind it.

They said it’s under warranty for a year and it was bought last September so, they should.
