Hi guys,
It's been a while since I posted a thread on this site and I am sorry about that.
But I need your help on this one...

Can I use a 3 amp battery tender to charge my Spyder?
I've got this one:

And I have a MotoBatt 12V AGM Battery.

Yes that is similar to the one I have used on my BMW M240 and my Spyder. Good product. I have a Jr version that I have kept on my BMW K1200 for 14 years.

A low amp charge over a longer peroid of time is much better than a high amp charge over a short period of time. One of the conditions batteries really hate is to be left empty. It shortens their lifetime.

Hi guys,

The question was, use the 3 amp to charge the Spyder. It was not about using a 3 amp as a float charger.
The 3 amp would not harm the Spyder battery, but depending on the level of discharge, it might take a very long time if it ever brings the battery back up to full charge.

It the question was meant to be about battery maintenance, then yes, it would work fine.

If it is a severely discharged battery from a long time sitting up, I don't think the float charger is the way to go.

Also the float charger probably does not have a conditioner setting for the AGM.

The answer to your question may have several pieces.

I. Yes.
2. For a quick charge.
3. I would Not use it for a Daily Charge or Maintainer.
4. Batteries don't like being Hot.
5. For a Spyder use 1amp or less.
6. Battery Junior .75 amps is Best.

Just in case you really wanted to know what is best.

Have yourself a Blessed Day
