• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Catastrophic Damage at 2026 D3WR - any suggestions on transporters to ship an F3 home to NC?

I am sure there are good techs out there with integrity, though I also know dealerships put pressure on them in some cases, as 'Time is Money'! I just wish everyone had the high standards I expect. In my opinion, a high standard should BE the standard. But you can wish in one hand and... well, you know the drill.

Oh that I know the drill. I also know that getting things done on the cheap by people with neither the skills, the experience, nor the equipment rarely turns out well. I'm sure you see the result of a lot of that coming through your shop, after the damage is done. People don't budget properly for tires and servicing. It's the total cost of ownership, not just the out the door price that counts!

I've learned that you have to build a relationship with a service shop to become trusting of their diagnosis and repairs. The high standard should BE the standard and the level of trust should be implicit just by having the manufacturers Logo on the building. Unfortunately...

This post reminds me of the old saying, "experienced mechanics aren't cheap, and cheap mechanics aren't experienced!"

I dunno, I reckon that I've met more'n just a few 'cheap mechanics' ('cheap', but not as in 'not expensive', more so 'cheap & nasty' or even 'dodgy'!) who were VERY experienced - experienced at cutting corners in every job at every opportunity; padding invoices; over charging for everything; not ever doing any job properly (not even for their own Mum! 🤨); lying to their customers; and basically milking each and everyone of their customers for every cent they could weasel out of them without really doing anything properly!! 😖 Some of them had been doing the dodgy stuff so often and for so long that they now can't even lie straight in bed!! 🤬

My local dealer is horrible at keeping techs. Turnover is sky high. I never see the same face more than twice in the service dept. Because of that, the techs are always learning on your bike. I had a punctured rear tire replaced there not long after I bought the bike, and they messed up the belt alignment while doing it. Took it in the next day to correct it, and it took them over 5 and a half hours to complete! It was so bad, the dealership manager got involved directly and ended up giving me a $250 gift card for compensation. Still, I just do not want that shop to touch my bike again, ever! I wouldn't trust them to do anything other than charge me for the service, and that's why I chose to take my chances and not have the 3k service done. I do the oil changes myself and it's easy enough to torque the lug nuts to make sure they don't fall off. At 8k miles, so far, so good. If it blows up, they make new bikes every day.

If you still want to have it shipped home, I have used Haulbikes.com for shipping from NC to Wisconsin. Reasonable price and specialized motorcycle shippers. Right now may be a good time, as they are hauling bikes to Sturgis. You might get a good deal during this time.
