CB to integrate with SENA headsets?

Wife and I have sena headsets that we are very happy with. Was wondering if there was a CB or CB and some other gadget that would let us also talk with other riders using CB on occasion?

I think the Sena SR10 device is what I want but would still need a radio. What works very well? Can the SR10 be wired to the left handlebar PTT button?

Just trying to learn from others experience rather than reinvent the wheel.

Not with brp so far that I have done. But their is a way to make it work but lots of testing first , then hook up. I can make it work for ham radios, but wiring it disc cb set up. Doing work to night on setup more to come soon,.

I'm going to say no, not unless you're into microprocessor communication reverse engineering. The PTT switch is not a normal circuit make/break switch. It's operation triggers a signal in the left multifunction switch (MSL) which is a purpose specific processor. The MSL communicates to everything else on the bike, including radios, via the CAN Bus 2 wire communication system.

I used the the same push to talk but rewired it for ham radios works great. But you can't do both cb/ hamradio thu Bluetooth setup? Not yet working on that to night..

Can the switch be unplugged from the buss and just used as a switch?
I will look at it in the service manual.

I am considering the Midland 75-822 which will work with the Sena SR10.
It has a wired PTT button and it would be nice if the PTT button on the spyder could be used.

Let us know what you figure out. Would like to add this exact setup to our bikes. But the PTT button is the hangup. Getting a pair of wires out to the multifunction switch would not be that hard if the PTT button can be disconnected from the harness.

You do not need to get them out. You must get the cb wiring harness only? That's where it all hooks to. Mine cost me 100.00$$ but that way you have all the right wires that go thu the am/fm radio for it to work? Do not pul the ores out from our left bars not good to do. Working on setup now so far , ham radio works great and and my grs internet radio works now to. But to hook in to blue tooth sill working out bugs, but getting their.. Post later on the hole setup via you tube when done...

Good question. The parts list shows only the entire switch assembly with a harness as a repair item and the part number has changed from 2013 to '14. I think the only way to answer your question is to disassemble a switch and see how it's built inside. But at $400+ for the '14 switch one would want to think, not twice but, three times before breaking one apart! The only place on the wiring diagram I find the PTT is in the box that lists all the MSL functions that use the CAN bus. It looks like the horn and headlight buttons may be the only part of the MSL that are not on the CAN. You would definitely have to run a new wire pair out of the switch assembly so where and how to run it and keep the switch waterproof would have to be figured out.

The PTT button does not connect to the CB harness. It is part of the left multifunction switch which communicates with the audio unit via the CAN. The CB gets it command to transmit from the audio unit. There is no PTT button input directly into the BRP CB radio hence no PTT wire to connect an after market CB to.

Are you referring to using the PTT button that is part of the SR10 BT adapter? In that case you're right. Don't mess with the bike harness. But the question was how to use the bike PTT to connect into the SR10 adapter? Difficult at best, if not even downright impossible.

Yes but you need it in order to make it talk, that is way I got the harness works ok you have to get the right wire in Amfm unite but I use the harnes for ham and grs internet hook up all goes thu Amfm wiring plug?

OK, so what you're saying is you picked up the wire between the audio unit and the CB that sends the transmit command to the CB? And this transmit command is issued by the audio unit even if a CB radio is not connected to the audio unit? If so, is it just one wire that sends a high signal to, or takes a high to ground from, the CB for transmit, or is it a pair that makes or breaks a PTT circuit from the CB? If it's a pair then using that for the PTT for the SR10 would be a piece of cake! :yes:Since I've never delved into CB wiring before, is a PTT circuit usually a close to transmit, or open to transmit?

Looking at the wiring diagrams, since the CanBus lines do not go to the CB radio and it takes all control from the radio unit, this circuit must exist. None of the wiring between the radio and CB is shielded so its not likely a communications bus, all hard wired or analog audio signals. Now figuring out which wire is which....none a labeled on the wiring diagram other than colors and pins.

Well close, but the way they have it installed with the Amfm radio all goes thu it. Just finished the hook up , and wow it works now, now to Bluetooth is next. So I can here on the se-10. .the first test bad, now the 3 test so so? Getting close to make it work.. Just have to find ins in out put??but the ham radio good now. Grs internet good, pss1c working now? So now last part next after dinner to fid hot asd12 in put color?.

Please do this dense head a favor and explain some of your shorthand references, like grs internet, pss1c, 3 test, and so on. Also explain, in clear simple terms what you have accomplished so far, and what you need to do still. I take it you are installing a ham radio in place of the CB radio and having it work on the bike just like a CB. Is that right?

How you are planning to use Bluetooth?

Puts to talk on ham radio,2. Push to talk on world pwide ham net over Internet via sat interface system .3 pss1cis voice over all system on this bike.4. Last is hook it all up thu Bluetooth on the bike, and yes can hook up Cb radio to and cross over on any one of these system on the bike, and connect to any out biker on any Bluetooth systems, this is the last hardship part. Making my own Bluetooth trans out put.? How dose this sound now???!

Could you let us know the connection functions for the pins on the radio that you are using for the ham radio (sound, mic and Push to talk) connnections. Most of us are not trying to duplicate the system you are installing but parts of what you seem to have discovered would be very helpful to others here.

the Bluetooth output is easily handled by either Sena SM10 module(If its on your speakers, its on your head set) or the Sena SR10 module which is two way with mic input and speaker (mono) out. Or both can be used as they are using different protocols and pair independently.

Ok? To do what Iam doing you can not setup the sena sm10 or 20 have to do it this way my way for all to work with just a hit of the button setup on left side. Sena will not layout just right for this hook up. As for wiring I will make a vido and paper and post it. All has to done to a Knox set up the to sena box. This this will take few days to work out. Then I will post pic by pic wire for wire, also will show how to do it just using the push to talk button also for just one part of the sena can do. Yes Iam very tech person sorry that's the way talk and type it. Sorry for that art but that's the way it's going to be...... Ok like I. Said will get back after all done and videos gone thur for people to work on thier systems......

Yes but if you want to make add ons to the system then you have to build it and that's what Iam trying to do so that you can add anything to the bike and make all you toys work like it should fast and fast on the fly to talk or just have fun, also you can all of your toys on at the same time not just one ? All of them so you can keep up to date with all people aruond you and still have fun from one push and talk setup via a box the Iam building will work nice when done? I hope. But so far all what I have done is working now. Just need to finish up the box for all to work..
