There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Cost Of Ownership of a 1330

Well it's not just the oil. As I stated there has been 3 recalls and now I'm reading nobody has oil usage on their 2014's and I have. That's all. Don't get so defensive.

Recalls do happen, I have had several on some of my "GM" cars I own and know that can be frustrating as well. If you have a good dealer to work with makes a big difference.

Relax and enjoy your Spyder - life is too short. It's good to be watchful on the oil level - glad you're on top of that.

Take care and enjoy your Spyder RT Limited !

BTW...I like the color! :D

Yes, overall everything is great. There is more I'm not divulging here that is also fueling my fire but we are very happy overall.

Not defensive at all, sorry if you took it that way...
Just seems like it's a topic people discuss once in awhile. wondering why some peeps get all bent out of shape or think it's a problem when a bike uses some oil, especially since it's pretty common for any performance motor to use a bit of oil.

Let's remember that most of us have been talking about our bikes NOT using any oil.
That's enough to make a person start wondering; just a little bit.

REALLY

No leak apparent but the dip stick showed it down about 1/8" from the low/fill mark so added a little, very little. But still was surprised to see it low. I am not impressed with a few things like the fact it was built last year (October) and I didn't realize that until I got it home and figured out where the label was located. I bought it in April! It had the oil screw recall done along with the key/ignition recall and another recall that I can't recall (no pun intended) but if I had bought one that was built later, say in March of this year I doubt it would have ANY issues.

Excuse me while I vent...:banghead:

:gaah:...You would be really surprised to learn then, that the 998 Rotax was practically an Antique when they decided to put it in our " NEWLY " designed Spyders :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:......Mikeguyver

Cost for maintenance appears to be less on the 1330 compared to the previous steeds.

First oil change interval is at about 3000 miles and second is at about 9200 miles. They recommend once a year if you don't have the requisite miles. Most oil change services are $250-$300.

Valve check intervals are no longer required. That is about $600-$800 if you decide to have them done on the 998 versions.

Tires seem to be an issue with replacement by a lot of people done at around 6,000 miles.

I am approaching 3000 miles so am due for my first oil change service. No tire issues yet.

6000 miles on tires? and what is the replacement cost?

Okay, this is a thing with me and I can't just let it go. There have not been any recalls on the 2014. Zero Recalls. Recalls are issued by the NHTSA and you would receive a letter in the mail notifying you of the recall. What you speak of are Service Bulletins or Warranty Campaigns.

This has been a public service announcement and we now return you to your regular programming.

Some people call a maintenance an oil change and ignore the 40 item checklist and adjustments or fills a necessary . My dealer actually does there My cost savings for a 25000 mile year (that may be low for this year since I have already ridden 17500) from longer interval, no oil use, better gas mileage , and no valve adjustments is $3000 per yr. my 14 pays for itself compared to my 12

2014 RT

Attempting to due my due dilligence. With being headed towards retirement, I'm attempting to appproach a purchase with "eyes wide open". Does BRP publish an on-line Recommended Interval Maintenance Schedule by mileage or months in service for the '14 RT series trikes? Could someone point me to where I can find it?
Thanks,
Mike

With the first break in service at 1800 miles and regular service every 9,500 miles along with an average of 40+ mpg. You will save a lot over the life of the bike. 2014 RT is a good value.Info is in manual except for gas mileage.
