• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Costa Rica

Check BRP..!!

Don't know if you checked brp's find a dealer section. Many latin locations have independent shops that can do the work but are not dealers. Don't know myself..:dontknow:

I've lusted after the prospect of doing a trip to the Panama Canal, leveraging the Spyder dealers along the way.

But a vision of limp mode in freakin' middle of nowhere, say, Honduras terrifies me.

Oh well, darn shame I'm such a coward.

Anyone know of anyone who has made that south of the border trip on the Spyder yet? I know we've got one Spyderlover in Mexico, but have never heard of anyone taking a trip further south than that...

I've worked in Costa Rica and driven from San Jose to one coast a few times. The driving is better than Mexico but the roads take a beating with all the rain. The asphalt get tore up pretty good and it's a ruff ride. Beautiful country with nice people just don't go out at night.

There was a spyderlover from Venezuela; can't remember his name. During our trip to Costa Rica we saw one phantom spyder.

I went to the Arctic last year in my 4X4 pickup and wanted to go to Panama to finish the continent. However, the State Department has some pretty impressive warnings about Mexico on their web pages. I could imagine it might be even more dangerous on a Spyder.

Eh, it's not so bad, as long as you speak passable Spanish (I don't) and travel with a buddy. Given Spyder reliability and mechanic availability, I'd prefer to pair up with someone on a different model bike just to increase my chances of having a way out of trouble.

Ginormous thread on motorcycling through Mexico. Short version: there are places you don't want to go, like anywhere in the world, but there are places you definitely want to go... like anywhere in the world. :doorag:

limp home

Not too many worries in Honduras as there are shops in each major city (although in the middle of anywhere won't help. I have just gone through 4 countries and the bike was amazing before this screw up.

Id venture to say that that would be awesome.

Love to see some different scenery.
