• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Counter shaft pulley...again..and again.

12 hours before departing to Chicago, the 3rd counter shaft failed again: groaning noise, the belt shift outside and the bolt was loose. :yikes: This become a "every 20K revision"...

Sorry to hear this Bro. :(
This will be a good trip to break in the Silver RT. :dontknow:
If you're not going to make it I'll make arrangements but I would rather have my buddy working on me if possible. If not I totally understand. nojoke

Addendum to the BRP maint. schedule

Every Service, remove and check the bolt and front sprocket. Replace sprocket every 20K miles.

My recommendation when we get to Chicago and I see the BRP guys, along with a list I have made since having the 09 and 10 Spyders.

That is rediculous to have had to change it 4 times. Glad you caught it before it came all of the way off, and before you left for Chicago.

my 2nd sprocket only lasted 7000 miles and i was told that shaft that sticks out of engine had some wear also and if it happens again they will have to replace that also.:dontknow:

I have started to have a vibration or groan at 51 mph.getting bad now,its at no more or less than 51.Im gona check mine later...

This puts you ahead of Seth-O in all of the Big-3 categories doesn't it Doc?

1- Quarter Mile Time
2- Total Miles Ridden
3- Number of CSS's Thrown

I guess along with my various other spare parts I'll order a front pulley.

I've got extra shaft bolts if anyone needs one... as well as plenty of other common wear parts that I take along on longer trips.

Hope you can get it back on the road Doc!

Shaftdrive bikes (ST1300, C14 etc) are supposed to have something like the product below on the splines to prevent this type of wear to spline and hub. This is not your usual moly grease (say 10%) but 73% moly. I have it on my C14 and Spyder with the 30T sprocket...... and hoping...... Maybe on the OEM sprocket it could be useful too. If the bolt is allowing movement between hub and shaft the moly paste may just prevent this happening. Check bolt torque periodically when serviced, don't see need for removing sprocket every service for inspection if bolt remains tight.

I'm glad I've only had basically one problem with that front sprocket. That one was enough. :yikes:
