• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We're heading to western S.D. in a couple weeks, staying in Custer. It'll be my first trip there, so I'm looking for suggestions for roads/routes to travel for day trips.

LEWEIS

you need to get a burger at LEWIE'S in Leads, SD.... unbelievable...
South Dakota is an AWESOME area to ride... you need to visit Deadwood & Sturgis, regardless of whether the events are going at the time of your visit.... many, MANY places to visit; Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, geographical center of the USA, Devil Tower, Lewie's, etc etc etc.....
enjoy your trip, and keep us posted...

Custer is a good base of operations. Been there and done that. Suggested items to see

Badlands National Park/Wall
Mount Rushmore
Custer State Park/Buffalo Herds
Needles Highway
Crazy Horse Monument
Sturgis
Deadwood
Devils Tower

All of the items above are worth it. The scenery is great, wherever you travel there. You can get a localized map at a gazillion places when there.

Just there

Needles Highway
Iron Mountain Rd (16A)
Spearfish Canyon

as well as other rides/item mentioned

Vanocker Canyon. Spearfish Canyon. These are good ones that can be overlooked by the awesomeness.

I90

I'm not sure, but I think the Stugis event may be in full swing at the time you'll be heading that way... be careful... US I90 is an absolute nightmare during the Sturgis event... I'd recommend finding a path around it, if possible...
forgot; you may also want to make at stop at WALLS DRUG STORE, http://www.walldrug.com it's a crazy place...
have fun, and ride safely...

While in Custer, you have to stop in at the PURPLE PIE PLACE. They make pies just mom used to make. Owner told me they go through 100lbs. of rhubarb every day. Was my favorite stop when in SD. Also the Hotel in Hill City on Wed. night for steak and potato.

Thanks for all the good tips everyone! We'll be heading out in the afternoon and driving halfway, or til dark or so, then finishing the drive the next morning. Hopefully the winds will be manageable. We'll be trailering.
