DPS...finally

got the call this morning...if I could get the Spyder in ...they could do the new DPS...of course my other half...hg...is not home...get with my son and he picks me at dealership at noon...and home I go...2 hours later a call and it is ready for pick up...a friend takes me back...it started to rain on me as I was arriving at dealership....had to wear my gerbing's to pick the bike up....60 degrees in morning 48 degrees when coming home....that's real quick drop for Houston, Texas area....is there anything I need to watch for or inspect with a new DPS......

I got mine done about a month ago. The bike was fine before the change and has been fine since. I do not notice any difference in the handling or performance.

Mine was more sensitive

Mine seemed a bit more sensitive but just remember to hold the bars loosely. My machine runs much better. No more backfiring.

After mine was done I noticed a very slight difference in steering. The :spyder2:worked OK before the DPS was replaced and it has worked fine since. Good luck.

My :spyder:never had a problem until I was on the Dragon during SITS. Nice time to act up but I was always kind of expecting it from what I read on the Forum so a small tug took care of the problem. My wife on the back said "what was that", I said I'll tell you later :yikes:. Since the fix it's been great and no more wondering when it will happen. Just got a left and right set of throttle rockers and wow no more hands falling asleep I recommend them highly plus it helps to not make you grip too tight.

Got mine back from my dealer a week or so back... ride home (80 miles) is full of twisties once I get near home.. steering to me seems sooo much smother, more linear (easier off center and remains the same throughout) thus making the twisties a lot easier to deal with. That is a good thing as I have to ride at least 18 miles in any direction to find a straight section of road longer than 1/8 of a mile..

Basically I am pleased with the DPS change.. may be all in my mind, but that is 99% of riding..

I just had my DPS replaced yesterday as well. I got 24 miles away from the dealership when it went my Check Engine light came on, then it went into Limp Home mode with a VSS failure and Check DPS messages. At a stop light, I shut off the Spyder and cycled the key 3 times, this cleared all the codes except the Check DPS. The light turned green, so I took off and got to the side of the road as soon as I could. Once there I removed the key from the ignition for a minute, put it back in and started the Spyder, and did not have any codes showing. However, when I tried to turn the bars I had no power steering at first, and then it gradually started working again. I turned around and took it back to the dealer. They hooked it back up to BUDS and recalibrated the Steering Angle and Torque sensors, then the owner of the shop took it for a test ryde. He rode it 12 miles, and put it through a lot of circle turns in both directions in the parking lot without any issues.

I was then able to ryde it the 70 miles back home with no issues whatsoever. :thumbup:

I can tell you there is a huge difference between when this new unit is working, and when it is not. Overall I am pleased with the way it handles now.

Statesboro Polaris Suzuki. They did a good job, and I have no complaints. They have done the recall on many other Spyders without any issues at all, mine just desired a little extra attention this time. I hope you are not having any problems with your Spyder now. :thumbup:
