• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Exhaust Spring "tool"

As many have mentioned, the three springs at the front of the primary muffler are a bugger. 'Home made and handy', some of you may remember that title from an old farming magazine, here's something simple but worked well:

used a length of 3/16" diameter mild steel rod, bent a hook using a vice and ball peen hammer, turned on its side and hammer from both sides to flatten/narrow the hook end (allows for easier insertion and removal from alongside the mounting loops). If I had a welder I would have bent a loop on the handle end and welded in place. One could also make the hook end more pretty by grinding a point and/or smoothing the edges.

It still takes a good tug to extend the springs but you don't have to worry about your ViseGrip(tm) or other pliers coming off of the spring and resulting skinned knuckles or cuts and contusions.

Well done..!!

always nice to solve your problems with a bit of diy and materials lying around. Have made quite a few and was surprised when my yoshinura R77 arrived and the spring tool was included :2thumbs:

Broke mine

We broke mine doing a cat bypass install. Took a coat hanger, stretched it out, wrapped it around a nylon strap and tugged from the back. Once the spring was hooked, snipped the hanger off. Took 10 seconds to make and allows plenty of leverage to pull the spring safely.
