There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ford's New GT...

I prefer V-8s also...
But they say that the V-6 is more than plenty potent!
It also makes for a much more compact and lightweight powerplant!

A real looker...

As computers do more and more of the designing for speed and efficiancy the more they are all looking the same. The vett's are somewhat like this as well. I guess they still need man to make the basic design look different..It is a good looking vehicle...:clap:I'm sure whatever power plant is in these cars it is more than the normal human could possibly use on the public highways...

What's not to love???:bowdown:  :2thumbs: :firstplace:

Car and Driver reports this: "Ford has approved 500 lucky people to purchase a GT; the rest of us can only dream. Prices likely will begin around $450,000. The GT has some of the most stunningly exotic bodywork around. Highlights include a mid-engine twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 making 647 hp and a maximum of 550 lb-ft of torque, carbon-fiber construction and body panels, active aerodynamics, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic; a manual won’t be offered. Ford says the top speed is 216 mph"

I don't think my Soc Sec checks will cover that cost. Anyway, I wasn't one of the lucky 500... I have a first-born child but he wasn't open to being used as a down payment... and I still want my arms and legs. I am a dreamer!!

$450,000 for openers??!! I might have to sell my wife. No wait, she's worth more than that (and she's not even looking over my shoulder).

Having driven the last model of this car for a few minutes I can say without a doubt that they are AWESOME!
:agree: And the 5.4 that was in it wasn't even as potent as the 5.8 that is in the 2013-2014 GT500. My nephew has one of those, and at 662 hp stock, it is a beast.

So if you want to save about $350,000 or so: buy the new Dodge Demon! :2thumbs:
It'll be ALMOST as fast on the top-end, and a heckuva lot quicker!

OK I ADMIT IT... I AM NOT A FORD GUY.
However.... When Shelby took the Daytona coup to Lamans and kicked Ferrari's ass
real bad I fell in love with the GT series, but they are sure costly...
Wish I owned 7 of them, one for every day of the week.

Difficult product for me to watch. Being that I was as hard core a Ford nut as there was and a previous GT owner, what is not to love is the stupid games of 'ownership roulette' they Ford played. In the end, only friends and family of the Ford motor company were graced with the golden ticket to have one hand build for them. Even then, they have to sign a contract that essentially forces them to sell it back to Ford rather than the open market.

All of this because they KNEW the car could not be truly competitive in its price range and would never sell a full production run of 10k or so cars. The car is NOT competitive with others in the $450k range. Ford would not commit the funds to finance a full production run. Its a hand built, contract build of a few hundred publicity statements.

Loved my GT.

Love DRIVING my Z06 far more and no drama in the purchase. Who knows what comes next. Truly wish Ford would see a way to build a competitive production sports car. Only GM has found a way to do that profitably in the US. Dodge gave up trying, Ford never gave it a real effort despite some of the best looking designs of all time.

With the new mid engine platform GM is working on, seems it would be hard for either Ford or Chrysler/Fiat to catch up.

:D But it is pretty... nojoke
And we keep getting better cars ad bikes EVERY year!:yes::yes::yes: :2thumbs:
(I was waiting for you to chime in on this one!)

I IS pretty. And that makes it all the more difficult to watch. There are so many Ford fanatics that would find a way to own one if only they could.

Ford has readily admitted that in production quantities it would be well under 200k. How far under depends on quantities. Its not all that complicated a car. No Hybrid or even AWD drive train. The most complicated part is the carbon fiber unibody. In quantity it would be FAR cheaper than an hand built chassis. The rest of the running gear is already used in other cars. Other hyper cars in that price range have FAR more tech. Ford is doing everything it can NOT to have head to head comparisons in the magazines. They have none to sell. No press cars and everything image wise to lose when a Porsche or Vette runs circles around the car sold to the 'public'.

There were many in the Ford GT community that watched the development, announcement, testing etc of this car for years only to be told, no mater how well heeled, they were not close enough to Ford Motor Company to warrant getting one. It hurt many of Ford's most loyal owners HARD.

I am far from the only one that decided it was time in my car buying career to move on and try what the rest of the world was building. Almost bought a Tesla myself after looking seriously at Audi A8, Porsche 911 Turbo and one of the last Vipers. Then the wife seriously suggested I look at the new Z06 that was just coming to market at that time in 2015. I am not and never will be a Chevy fan boy. I do like my vette though. No idea what its replacement will be in a few years. Judging by my remaining years in industry, I likely have one more new sports car purchase left. Likely 3 to 5 yrs out. For now, enjoy the vette and a WARRANTY and refurbing my new to me Excursion.

Oh, and lest we stray too far from the topic.... I LOVE riding my F3 which by the way has more miles on it than the Vette despite being newer.
