Forever mystified by Can Am's lack of style...

I am forever mystified about Can Am and the lack of desire to provide new or more exotic paint colors and schemes for the new Spyders. The other Can Am models of 3 wheelers and certainly the ATV's or jet skis have many color choices, but not us RT riders, no no. We get 4 colors to chose from, but we can chose chrome or black. I ride a '21 RT Limited and there have been NO changes to the more current models that would make me consider an upgrade. Woohoo, Apple CarPlay (that isn't reliable), but I am a Samsung user. I know I can get custom paint done, but who wants to spend $30K on a machine, then another $5-$10k on custom paint? Every year, I wait with anticipation as to what they will release for the next year and I have been terribly disappointed every year. Granted, the machine is as close to perfect as one can get, but spice it up a little already! Chris

Thanks to wraps and wrapping, you can be open to a wide variety of options & combinations. It's understandable that manufacturers would just keep to a few & basic designs.

Apple CarPlay, at least with the latest software updates to my Spyder, has been very reliable.
The only qualification is that you have to be riding somewhere that you can get a cell phone signal.
And yes, I did go one place that was deep in a valley where I couldn't get a cell phone signal. Good thing there was only one road in and out of the valley.

If you want flashy graphics or colors, look at wrapping like @Bfromla suggested.

Probably the last time you saw a two tone car from the factory, it had tail fins. It ain't just Spyders...

I just wished they would make their plastic's a little harder and less scratchable, it seems like this 2025's a lot softer than my 2012 was!

You would definitely be dissappointed in other brands. The 2nd gen Vmax (2009-2020) gets one color per year, no choice, just one color per year. And the Suzuki Boulevard M109 has gone practically unchanged from 2006-current year. They used to give 3 colors and a Limited edition color, which meant you got a stripe. Then in 2014, they went to a blacked out sort of scheme and called them "Boss". Back in 2024, they brought back a little chrome and still offered limited colors. So yeah, Can Am is bad, but there are others that are worse.

What I do not understand is the difficult to maintain mat finish on some of the colors. Is it just cheaper to manufacture? And I also do not like dark models, that is why I have been adding chrome pieces and wheels to my first 2018 Asphalt Grey one. The newest one is a chrome model. Cars and trucks have defaulted to dark models, with some that have a chrome option when ordering, which no dealer does for their vehicle stock.

When I bought my 2021 RT, the only one available at the dealership was the metallic blue. I would have preferred white or bright yellow, but the color was not an important feature for me. I am surprised at how often I get comments about people really liking this color. I did have a chance to ride a 2025 while my RT was being serviced, and I really like the larger screen and displays, but not enough to spend the bucks to buy a new Spyder. For navigation, I use my iPhone in a center mounted phone holder, most often I use the Waze app, and that has worked just fine for me.

I'm sure that Can Am has done some kind of market research and found that RT buyers are older and more conservative in their tastes, so therefore it limits their color choices. It's all about cost/benefits analysis formulas.
