There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Givi windshield issues...

So I know I want a taller windshield for the Spyder. I choose the Givi shield based on looks and cost. I really like how it fits the bike well.

However I'm 6'4" and I'm noticing a greatly increased noise factor with the Givi shield on. I'm not really getting much head buffeting, but over 45mph I can't hear the bike at all. I'm using a HJC CL-SP helmet and with the Givi shield on it sounds like the helmet is rattling. I can also see the top edge of the Givi windshield vibrating and it seems to correspond to the helmet noise.

I would have no problem riding with my helmet in the airstream. I just wanted to get the wind pressure off my chest for freeway rides. So I can see a couple options.

1. Try a different helmet.
2. Try a different windshield (maybe the Calsci M would work?)
3. Somehow modify the Givi shield (shorten it or try to bend out the recurve?) I don't know if that is even practical.

I would love to hear any ideas.
Thank you.

I have the Calsci medium and I love it, but you are a heck of a lot taller than I am (5'10"). I think for your height, the large or more likely the XL would work a lot better.

I'm a BIG fan of the CHAD. I was on the highway this morning hitting 90 or so with the face shield open on my 3/4 helmet, no buffeting, no vibration, minimal wind noise(for 90 or so....) I'm 6', the shield is set at it's LOWEST setting for my wife.... Magic Man can hook you up....

+1.

Were you listening to Jimi Hendrix :ani29:

I have HJC C-15 and am 5' 10" and the Givi is working fine for me. I think that 5' 10" is about the limit for the Givi since it is only 22.5 inches tall. 6' or taller probably needs a taller shield.

I have the Givi also - but I'm only 5'8".

I don't notice the movement on the shield that you're talking about.

I don't have any head buffetting, but I also have noticed a fair amount of helmet noise - especially compared to when I have my CalSci XL with Laminar lip on.

I started wearing earplugs - problem solved - all is nice and quiet now.

I agree the Givi looks really sharp!

Thanks for the help with the windshield dilemma.

I think I will try ear plugs for a while and see how that works out. If that doesn't pan out I think I will try the CHAD wind screen. Really the only downside of it is that it looks so big. However since it is so adjustable that might be a good solution if my 5'2" girl friend ever decides she wants to ride.
