There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Glue to reattach black vinyl/rubber trim to back edge of helmet?

Can anyone recommend a glue that worked well for them to reattach trim to a helmet?

I've tried superglue, only to have it last 2 days.

I've found a lot of reference to 3M Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, but would like more confidence in my glue choice before moving forward with my attempt.

Thanks all,

Here's what I did..!!

Found the best is contact cement. Its a tough job depending on how much you have to re-attach. If the whole edge you need to be careful not to stretch it while cementing it down...

That's good stuff... follow the directions carefully, and that trim will NEVER come loose!

I agree, 3M black weatherstrip adhesive is great stuff. Surface prep is important and you have to work with it quickly since it dries fast.

GOOP

GOOP makes a fantastic glue... and it's 'clear'....
make certain both surfaces are clean and free of oils...
good luck...

We have had our Spyder for 3 months now and our helmets bought the same time. I had problems with my trim about a month into it. Tried a couple
of things that didn't work. Then my husband bought Loctite all purpose Go2 glue and after 2 months, still holding great. Made by Henkel corporation.

Sounds like you did not Prep clean each surface with
Alcohol & find good way to apply pressure for 24hours in dry & untouched way. Superglue will hold better, other than that ,gorilla glue but fyi it expands & still needs pressure applied. Tape , vice, stack & sandbag if you got to. If helmet 5yr old, time to replace anyway. (MSF recommends)Fyi

ended up using 3M Scotch Weld

3M Scotch Weld High Performance Rubber and Gasket Adhesive did the trick quite nicely.

The helmet is brand new, just had poor workmanship on this trim piece-no need to replace helmet.

This adhesive is the same that is used to attach anti-icing boots to airplane wings, so I'm confident it will hold up on my new helmet.

A little tape, sanding and careful attention to instructions: all worked out fine.

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Stay safe!
