• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GO PRO Placement

Where did most of you finalize your mounting positions? I think this is where I like ours the best so far on the RSS...

HMMM... That looks to be a good spot. It will be fun to see what your footage looks like. By the looks of the snow it might be a little bit before you get to test it though. Nice job on the install.

Go Pro Placement

I've had to work with it to get it right, but except for two of my vids, I use the Go Pro chest harness accessory. Unlike the photo, I pull the harness all the way up under my arms, and adjust cam to just under collarbone. Feels a bit odd when first put on, but one forgets about it. The result is a neat view over instruments and steering; through windscreen and road/scenery ahead. Success also depends on your seated position. If you're bent forward in a 'sport' ryding position, it doesn't work as well. Optimal, however, if you're more straight up in a 'touring' ryde position.

If you check my vids, you'll see one where I had the cam mounted on the cowl just under the windscreen. Didn't like it because the vid didn't give any presence of the Spyder. There's another where I have the cam mounted on the rear trunk top. Nice for a novelty vid as it was; but I still preferred more of a 'you're in the cockpit' feel. Here's one of the better examples:

I have had it on different locations on the spyder. IMO when installed on the spyder or trailer it is mostly a static position; so, when going relatively straight you are not seeing anything different only closer.

I purchased the helmet mount making it more of a dynamic position. It is not obtrusive like some here will say. All it takes is a movement of the head to get a different view. JMO.

I also have the wrist mount which I tried yesterday. I have to load to my Imac and see what it looks like. I was snow shoeing not spydering.

I have been using the suction cup mount on my RT. Tried it on the fender and frunk lid, but the vibrations were severe. On the right engine cover under the mirror was solid, so were the side box covers. Here's a quick video on it.

IWN2RYD - Is that a suction mount you have for the camera? Please let me know extactly what you used. That looks like a great spot. I thought about using one of the adhesives on the top center of the fairing but not comfortable that it will stick on too long.

BTW, I have the same windshield. EVOIII, right? I love mine. MM

Yep.. We purchased the HD Motorsports Kit from the Go Pro site last year. It is the unit that comes in the kit. One of the best Suction cups ever... Installed it, have over 600 miles in all the bad weather and two detail washings... Solid as a rock...

Windshield is an EVO III. I love it. Hate the fella fell ill. To bad he could not sell the line to another company as the Spyder Nation grows everyday and I think these are one of the better looking units. Not to mention my Hands thank me in bad weather. Not sure I even have had wet glove yet during a ryde this year... :ohyea:

Just got the Gopro and took a bunch of vids using the stick on curved mount for the helmet. These use the 3M tape and apparently been tested by quite a few riders with great success. The company even has claimed the suction mount has been used on aircraft without coming loose. Its seems to me that if proper prep is used you need not worry as its a proven product.
