• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hayabusa engine...

I've noticed some are thinking about putting a Hayabusa engine in a spyder. That would definitely be a power monster. I may have this in the wrong forum but the reason for the post is related to this type of project.

While cruising the net a couple of days ago I saw "new 2009" Hayabusa motorcycles at a dealer in Alabama for $10,798. I don't know what they normally cost but thought there might be someone interested in that price for a new one. Someone posted a used one an 05 or 06 was about 10,000. I apologize I did not capture the dealer link, but it was an Alabama dealer.

Me... I would love to see one with this engine.

It may easier to make the hayabusa a spyder. They sell kits to do this.

I'm willing ot bet that you can find a fairly low mileage GSXR1300 on ebay or Cycletrader. I saw some going in the $6k range.

Now, if you can find one that has been laid down and has not damaged the motor, then you should be able to get a real deal.

You can get a low mileage motor (less than 1000 miles) for about $4500.00
I'm looking at spending about 5K to 6K on a complete bike as I would need all the controls and wiring to move over to the Spyabusa. :doorag:

Does anyone...

know where I might get a good late model GL1800 engine and wiring harness at a reasonable price. I'd like to see if one will fit this frame without two many modifications to the mount and tupper ware.

I've been looking on the other sites for several weeks now. Most I have seen have too many miles or too much damage.

I'd like to see either a Rocket 3 or ST1300 drive train with an auxillary forward/reverse box and shaft drive in a (my) Spyder. The Rocket 3 Roadster has around 165hp and 145 foot pounds of torque. Somehow, I think that'd do the job.:D

That ST1300...

is a nice engine system. There are many possibilities out there and I am certain we will see them in the next few years. I am anxious to see them on the road or on the site.

I am certain I will be amazed like I was when I saw my first Boss Hoss V8.

Bikes get hammered pretty regularly. Unfortunately the younger less experienced riders still have( or did) the $$ resources to get the fastest they can. I've been looking at used bike engines for the last several months and the prices are amazingly low. Many of the Sportbike engines are sold as "kit engines", w/all the harnesss etc., to plug them into mini-sprints or "Legends" cars. There are several nice 1800 'wing engines as well as an ST1300 or two. I am going to use one in a small sports car and have been looking at Valkyrie engines because they are dressed up more, because of the exposed engine. The 'busa engines are at the upper end of the range, Lamonsters' pricing seems to be about average ( some higher, some lower, but always one or two at that $), but many of the other engines are in the $1000 range or less.
The neat things, at least for the tinkerers, is that powerplants in bikes are always moving forward and the old one won't do. So something, in the car world, that would be "exotic" is passe' in the world of bikes. With the number that get damaged with a powerplant still good, the used market is soft since they outdate themselves so quickly.
