• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Helmet Review: Part II, Final thoughts

Here is a link http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=234597#post234597fitting to the initial thread that I
started on August 3rd, comparing:
(Nolan TrilogyN43 & Can-am Hybrid ST 1 )

Both have been great helmets, but I found myself preferring to wear one more often than
the other. Had I initially obtained the Can Helmet, I don't think I would have looked any
further. When I got my RT the Can-am helmet was not available and so began my search
knowing I did not want to use my Auto Helmet (Simpson Bandit) waiting for the
Can-am to arrive. So I went searching for a good helmet that was comfortable and protective. I
initially went shopping to try the Nolan N103 Modular helmets, It fit and was almost gonna get it
when I explained to the sales person at Extreme Supply that I was going to be using it on a Spyder
where I was going to be sitting up right for touring and he suggested a new helmet
called the Trilogy. Tried it on and loved the more open spectrum of visibility out of my
peripheral view than what the N103 offered. Also liked the feature of being able to
remove the jaw or visor and just ride with the sunshade if necessary.

And at the time I had no interest in bluettooth, except that I could later add it if I wanted
to. Fine, 6 months pass with me riding with the Nolan and I add the bluetooth and everything is
working reasonably fine.(bluetooth is a little bit quirky when trying to communicate with
passenger) And I am able to receive and make phone calls while riding.

But I also knew that I wanted my music and talk stations from the radio
piped into the helmet. So when my helmets from can-am arrived in June and I got the jaws
a month later I was able to start a real comparison. Well let me just say that for the last
3 months I have worn the Can-am 80% of the time. On 3 big trips the first time I brought all
4 helmets along with the trailer. The last two trips I took with my Wife and the last one to Vegas
with my Sister we only brought along the Can-am ST1 and overwhelmingly prefer
them with the exception that I can not use my phone. I still know when someone is trying to
reach me because their name or number displays on my GPS, but not able to accept the
call. Maybe BRP will allow a fix for this. The overall quality of the
VOX (helmet to helmet), and the ability of my passenger getting to set their music or talk sound
level in their helmet independently of mine far outweighs me making phone calls on the
bike. If I could have both in the can-am set up this would be my preference. When using the
Nolan I prefer the clear shield off and like adding the upper bib, the Can am helmet looks funny
with the clear shield removed so I ride with it mostly up on warm days. But when talking with
passenger I pull it down for reception and transmission.

Funny thing is I have not really used the other feature ,being able to transmit via the CB, but figure
if i get stuck somewhere that my phone doesn't work that this could be a life saver. That's why
I got the push to talk cable for the passenger too,

So # 1 choice goes to the Can-Am ST1
P1040048.jpg
with each of the two jaw configurations.

I like the vented as it provides more air and is fine even in the rain. With both jaws
attached we also don't accidentally grab the other persons helmet by mistake

Both types are excellent Helmets, and I have since told my wife that the reason we need
two helmets each is so that one can air out while we are using the other :ohyea:

Please add cellphone use BRP without us having to buy extra hardware, I'd be
willing to pay for a software update .

Oh and one more thing the helmet locks come in very handy when you are packed to the hilt.

Thanks for the final review. I finally had the opportunity to try on one of the Can-Am ST1 helmets while in Daytona, and really like the fit of it as well. This has been moved up higher on my wish list now. Thanks again.

I have had a ST-1 since June, really like it. I don't wear any of my other helmets anymore. My wife got one last month and really loves it. Great comfortable helmet

excellent review
thanks!

so doolitle likes to wear the doggles?
your welcome,

Doolittle loves wearing the doggles to a point. She doesn't have much need for the doggles on the spyder because the
fairing blocks most of the wind, however on the bicycle it comes in handy.

Outstanding review!

Dear Ticket Bait,
I must say that I continue to be amazed at your different reviews. Not only are they very thorough reports but you are fair and honest with your review. Your breakdown of information has helped me as well as others I know in making purchases, including the purchase of my new Spyder RT and my Nolan helmet. You have taken a lot of the guess work out and gave us more information then the manufacture.

"Attention BRP!"

Put Ticket Bait on the payroll!

Sincerely

ScottyB
