• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet Style

Okay this is kind of a pointlesss question. What style of helmet dose everyone wear, full face, half, open face, etc?

We use Schuberth C3-Pro helmets.
They are a modular design: we both wear eyeglasses, so it makes it much easier to get into and out of the helmet.

I'm a firm believer in protecting as much of my head as possible. It may not be pretty, but it's the only one that I've got! :D

HJC CL-17 Matte Black for commutes.

Outlaw T-75 German style flat black for back roads.

Schoei RF-1200 full face here but I'm considering adding a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet to the collection for times when I'm just zipping around town running errands. The bike is great for those "gotta run to the supermarket for a quart of milk" errands. Enforces discipline when you know you have no way to get that case of 32 rolls of toilet paper home.:roflblack:

Shoei Neotec modular helmet with sun shield is what I use. I like having the option to lift the front up in slow traffic:doorag:

Schuberth Modular and have on order a Schuberth 3/4.

Don't understand why anyone would wear one of those wan-a-be tough guy no protection Beanie helmets.

Helmet

Modular during the day, open face at night. Don't like changing the dark shield on my modular. If I get caught with it at night, I open the shield and wear glasses.

Our choice is either full face or modular. We have Arai, Shoei, Scorpion, Bell, HJC, and Z1R. Disclaimer: It has something to do with the search for the "perfect" helmet. Progress report: It either doesn't exist or we haven't found it yet.

Some time ago one of the helmet manufacturers created a model featuring graphics dividing the helmet into sections that indicated the percentage of times each section suffered significant damaged in a large sampling of accidents. The left and right chin areas accounted for something like 37%. That was sufficient to justify having worn full coverage helmets since the first Bell Star waaay back in the day.

I believe full face models offer the best protection particularly given that, in another thread about what gear to wear a member indicated that the most likely Spyder accident would involve striking another hard object (rather than the old "I had to lay it down" rhubarb) and flying through the air rather than sliding. I don't think doing a pavement belly-flop and landing on my unprotected chin would be a good thing.

Afterthought - one possible translation of "I had to lay it down." I decided to relinquish control and become a passenger.

HJC SyMax 3 Helmet White (we ended up with a White RT-S to match the helmets)... First Modular, used to wear full face, but went modular so I didn't have to take helmet off for photographs. Works like a charm and very comfortable.
