• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help with a Ladies Helmet

After ryding today.....it was about 85 today in Buffalo....my wife has become frustrated with her hair being soaked when she takes her helmet off. Does anyone have a REAL suggestion for a helmet? I know how you busters are so pleeeeeeze come up with a real solution. (I think I'm more frustrated with her than she is with her hair.) Full face, modular, or whatever. What has some good cooling air flow??

My wife and I use a doo rag and we wear half shell helmets in the summer months and modular or transformable helmets in cold weather.

We ride, embrace helmet hair! :D I know there are personal opinions. Is going from a full face to an open face, half shell or novelty beanie worth the compromise in protection to have good hair? Some women I ride with use a doo rag under their helmet. Under Armor and Nike make moisture wicking skull caps that football players wear under their helmets.

Nancy wears a polypropylene balaclava. Not a sure cure, but it helps. She wears an Arai full-face helmet.

I wear a Heat Off skull cap under my helmet and it works for me in the Las Vegas heat. They are available at Cycle Gear for around $5.00

My wife wears a Shoei RF 1100 full face helmet, as do I. It has very good airflow...one of the best for a full face helmet I've ever experienced. And it's both DOT and Snell rated, which we consider a must.

However, I don't know any helmet that will eliminate helmet hair, especially when it's hot.

We do have a friend who has a sticker on her helmet that says, "Hair by helmet."

Air Flow

I've found Shoei helmets to have about the best air flow around I've owned both a fullface and a modular and found them both to be cooler than even an open face 3/4 helmet. I agree that when it's hot you won't be able to eliminate the wet hair, no matter what you wear unless it's no helmet at all.

The heat out skull hat is on sale at Cycle Gear at $4.99 till 7/9/13 as is most of that brand. Got a flyer in the mail today from them.

+1.

I have both the Heat Out and Under Armour skull caps and I think the Heat Out cap is better at a 1/3 of the price.

Of course, as others have said, sweaty helmet hair in the summer is unavoidable.
