• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Spyder Ryder

Glad to see there is an active community for Spyder ryders. I have been riding 2 wheelers for the past 55 years and finally decided to move to 3 wheels for a variety of reasons. I live in Southwest Utah and enjoy touring. I have taken many long rides throughout the west, mid-west, southwest, and western Canada on my Gold Wing. That is my passion. I am anxious to go on my first long trip on my new 2021 RT Limited as soon as this pandemic winds down enough to allow safe travel. I will look to the forum to provide wisdom and good riding techniques on my Spyder. The owner's manual is pretty useless in a lot of areas. Thanks for allowing me to join the forum. I will ask many questions and hope for good input from you experienced riders.

First question: Is there a recommended RPM to upshift and downshift at? For example, is 3000 RPM a good target to upshift at and 2000 a good target to downshift at? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Wilkesbs. I hope you enjoy it. :congrats: On the New 2021 Spyder RTL!! You can find lots of good information here on the Spyder RTL in the different areas of the forum. Try reading the Dos and Don'ts above Lots of good stuff in there. You will be able to post in all the areas soon with any question you may have and I'm sure other will do their best to help or just chat. I would say shift up at 3500 to 4000 and let the Spyder do the down shifting it self. Moving from two wheel to 3 wheels will take a little getting use to, its not the same but once you get use to it you will love it. I would say it will take about 2000 miles before you get real comfortable. Ya its that much of a difference, but don't give up. I hope to see you around the forum soon. :2thumbs:
