• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hid install question.

Ok. So... I open my hid kit fresh from xenon depot. First thing I see is a little note to remove a spacer from the lamp.
So I proceed with the install. Hitting a few snags that take some figuring out for me. Install the lamps. Bit tight going into the socket, but they go i and turn most of the way. Couldn't turn them any further than i did. Get everything fitted and put back together. Ran the electrical runs to my fuze block instead of direct to the battery, but everything is working. Start cleaning up, and see The warning note again. ****! Do I -REALLY- need to tear my bike apart again just to remove these spacers? Or will they be fine if I leave them? Was it to prevent damage during install? Install took like 3 hours for me, and I really don't want to tear things apart again. Had plans to take the bike out tomorrow night. And have a ride scheduled for saturday. Tearing bike apart shouldn't take near as long, I just don't want to do it at the moment.

Well, went outside and tore my bike apart in record time just to remove the spacers the little slip of paper warns me about only to find.... THERE ARE NO SPACERS ON THE BULBS!
GAh!!!

My HID foglights from XenonDepot were also very tight in the socket, and one broke in my hand when I tightened it. I had already removed the rings so that was not the problem. Their warranty did not cover it, and the replacement bulbs I bought on eBay fit easily with no problem. For an HID kit this pricey they sure need to come up with better directions.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take that into consideration before making that purchase.

I also order from the Xenon sponsor here for my 2012 RS. What I nightmare to get these kits to fit. I had a friend to do it and he is mechanically inclined as well as having an electrical degree and he has a tool inventory to make most mechanics drool.

He had a heck of a time fitting the Xenons into the Spyder light socket. Took many clip adjustments and alot of bad words to get the kit in. It was exhausting and I was only holding things and handing tools off. Plus he complained of cheap materials having to tape some of the components together for a better hold.

In addition, now the spyder requires to push the "mode" button twice and if you turn the motor off in 1st gear you may have additional problems getting the spyder to clear codes. I contribute this too the HID's firing up and requiring so much power.

The upside is, at night it lights up the road beautifully.

I am hoping the kit lasts a long time because I would sure hate to have to go in there again to repair anything!!!!!

IMHO it's best to remove the headlight housing from the bike. Those clips that hold the bulbs in is a joke.

If you remove the headlight housing what holds the bulb in place?

Remove the headlight housing while installing the bulb in the housing. That way you aren't reaching up in there trying to work by feel. You can install the bulb into the housing while it's on your workbench
