• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

High $$$ seat alternatives?

I went with the BRP aftermarket gel seat for my Spyder. Found it to be quite comfortable...and lightyears ahead of the stock seat.:doorag:

We rode to LA last year with the stock seat plus a gel pac. Not good. Replaced the stock seat with a BRP comfort seat..not much difference.

Right now we are 5200 miles into a 7400 mi trip, and my wife is on the Spyder. She cannot go more than 100 miles without stopping, sometimes less. She is using the gel pac with a sheepskin pad and switching them into different configurations for variety.

I have a Russell Day Long on my Honda ST1100.(I bought the bike used and the seat was on it) I could easily ride thru a whole tank of gas, which is somewhere around 250 miles without stopping. The only thing that gets sore is my lower back after sitting for that long.

Of course, we arent spring chickens anymore..we do qualify for a discount at Dennys..:D

We are going to go with a Russell on the Spyder after we get back to Seattle.

Had a Russell on my K1200LT - it was much better than stock, but not worth the cost and time involved. Find someone who has one and sit on it.

My best combo to date is a Corbin (which you can find used - they aren't custom made like the Russell), and a BeadRider - that combo is currently on both my Spyder AND Valk.... I can easily empty the tank on both...

I have used a BeadRider for years and love them - easy to add & remove, fits multiple bikes and is cheap ($35). You may snicker at the thought of comfort from wooden beads, but I would try it first. I use mine with my Corbin seats.

This is especially true for those that live in hot/humid areas.

You know, I looked up BeadRider and it seems awfully expensive for what it is.

Went to AutoZone and got a beaded cover for autos. It covers the driver seat, extends to the back for the passenger and then goes up the back of the passenger seat. Plenty long enough for my RT.

I tied it off in the rear cargo so that it stays in place.

All for $12.99. It's beads and I'm cooler(if that's possible :doorag:)

A Harley riding friend of mine got this for his wife and she loves it. Not sure of the details (like if it's for a passenger seat only or what). Could be worth checking out though.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see it's for passenger seats only.

Just a follow-up on the beads....these don't in any way damage the stock seat do they?

Go with the BRP comfort seat...I find that it makes a huge difference over stock and you can get it for about $375.00. This is well worth it. I know there are expensive corbins and others, but if you don't want to go overboard with cost, the comfort seat is a really good upgrade for a very reasonable cost (compared to other seat options)...
