• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How expensive/difficult is it to do a 2014 Seat/Backrest Change Out?

I'm looking at 2014 RT S-and I'm not thrilled with the seat color - I'd rather have black. My question is - how expensive and how much trouble is to change out to an OEM (or aftermarket) seat and back/headrest?

Thanks,
Bob

It's not particularly difficult thing to do, takes probably less than an hour for most, just a couple of bolts for the seat and a few screws for the backrest; just make sure that you cover the 'Black Holes into the Abyss' below the bolts for the rear hinges on the seat - if you loose anything into them, they're gone!

And the expense comes back to how much you can find a replacement seat for - many owners swap out the OEM seats to fit others, then can't find buyers for the seat once removed; so they're out there, but they are expensive to freight anywhere, often VERY expensive!! (You don't want an almost unused Dark Tan Ltd seat & backrest do you? It's only done about 1500 miles on a Spyder, going cheap in Oz, but you'd hafta pay the freight to get it to the USA! ) And there's always a/mkt seats too, but they also tend to cost a bit - I don't think you'd get much change from $1000 for most of the good seats. :cautious:

Have you looked into getting that red seat dyed black locally? Or maybe even just recovered? Either might just be the cheapest alternative these days?? 🤔
