• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How much air pressure to put in 2021 RT base rear shock?

Can't find my hand pump and want to buy a new one. Not sure if I need one that maxes out at 60#, 100# or 300#.

Look under the seat for a decal.
50-60 lbs for a typical 1-up with relatively light loads in bags.

According to the sticker the max recommended pressure is 85psi. The label further says, "do not exceed maximum recommended pressure by more than 10 psi."

So the most you ever can use is 95 psi. Solo, I like mine at 52 psi.

Thanks. What weight? Solo or w/a pillion? I'm 300# but won't have much luggage or a pillion.

I'm 240 and don't routinely carry a passenger, and I run 54 pounds (cold/unladen). Also, there's a dealer notice that indicates that it is common to loose 4-5 pounds of pressure per approximately ten days at higher pressure settings. Also, I used a valve stem extender (used on trucks with dual wheels) to make adding air pressure to the rear shock much simpler.

Just so you know, you are not adding air to the "shock".
The device that holds the air is an air spring (bag).

The "shock" is a typical hydraulic damper with a coil-over spring.

Right off the sticker, it recommends 60# for your weight. (rider 250# (55psi) + 50# (5psi))
That's a good starting point, but you'll have to experiment. The Schrader is a bugger to get to.

I know, bro. Just easier to say "shock" than to say "air bag that works in conjunction with the shock to dampen bumps and/or adjust the ride height". :)

Part A: Well, that sux.

Part B: Do you have a link to the valve stem extender you've got? More info on it, please including a pic of where you relocated it to. Might as well plan ahead in case I'm blessed enough to get this bike.

I ordered the "valve extender" from Amazon, and here is the link:

Oh, I, also, use the Fobo Bike2 to monitor all pressures. I hope this helps!

If there's any loss of air, there's a leak of some sort, and a little soap and water can find it easy enough!! Plus the more stuff you put on that system, ext hoses, Fobo, make sure you use good fittings and any thread sealer if there not compression fittings, and of coarse test when done, or you will loose 4-5 lbs in so many days!!! It will not take much of a pump to pump it up and it will not take but a short burp of air to get it where you want it, be careful!!! Good luck
