• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HUD for Spyder

Has anyone tried a Heads Up Display (HUD) on the Spyder windshield? There are devices, such as Navdy, Garmin HUD, and others that sit on the dash and project an image up to the windshield which you can then see. I'd be curious to whether anyone has tried this out. I'd really love to get one in my helmet, but none of the vendors that have said they're producing one has come out with a production model.

There is a iPhone APP (HUD away) that will project the GPS display (or anything on your phone screen) to the windshield.

Works great on a car but due to the angle of the dangle of the Spyder dash and windshield, doesn't work well on the Spyder unless you made some kind of phone holder to get the angle right. I rigged something out of foam to try it temporarily. Cannot see it in full daylight!

Most cars have some kind of UV or tint to the windshield. Even then on a car it BARELY works OK during the day.
But on the Spyder....... it is lost in the light!

Yes, I have played with this... Right now nothing works well on the Spyder HUD wise.

In my opinion to make it work would require a "laser raster output system" to draw the image on the windshield so you can see it during the daytime.

Hey Bob, the HUD's I have seen use a semi transparent reflective film which sticks to the inside of the wind shield. Example
You might want to retest with something like a thin sheet of mylar or similar. Probably doesn't help the viewing angle, but you should get some reflection even in sunlight.
