I just had my rear tire changed on my 2016 RTL, believe or not 20863 miles on it and it was a Kenda,

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
I must have got a good Kenda rear tire!

That certainly is amazing. My factory original Kenda was mostly gone by 8300 miles and totally gone by 10,000

You did real good. :yes: I got 15K out on five of six spyders. The 2014 only gave me 8K (soft rubber). Most other 2014's only got 4K out of theirs. I am considered the "exception" rather than the rule on Kenda OEM's. :bowdown:
My OEM Kenda with 1500 miles is coming off this week for a Altimax. Maybe I can get a few $$ for it

Mine was toast at 5800 mi.
My first Kenda rear tire was toast after just a gentle ride home from purchasing it in the State next door - at less than 3000 kilometres!! The second and last Kenda I've purchased didn't last 4000 km, and they were the scariest 4000 km of my driving/riding career at that, due to its abysmal performance and appalling on-road behaviour!! :yikes:
But since replacing that one with a 'real' tire, and running it at the correct pressure for its higher capability carrying a lighter load, I haven't got less that 30,000 km out of any of my tires since, despite them all being worked/driven a LOT harder and yet still performing better in all respects! :lecturef_smilie:

hyea:Mind you, while I will freely admit that it is apparent that the OEM Kendas have been gradually getting better since their 2014 & earlier rubbish, I have seen/ridden a few Kendas on later models, and I noticed that at least some are once again behaving/performing/lasting pretty poorly!! Seeing that their good days weren't ever all that great, I do hope they haven't reverted to their bad old days & ways!! :dontknow: :banghead:

In it's defense (the Kenda) I worked it very hard. Never did any burnouts but just a lot of fast hard cornering. Tire was set at the factory suggested pressure.

I ran the 215/60R15 car tire on my past F3S at 18#, being it was a lighter Spyder and 100% solo. What would you recommend for pressure on a 215/60R15 Altimax on my 2022 RT STS ? Again, solo rider. Thx

We will never know the facts, however there has always been watercooler chat that the 2014 Kendas were a softer compound. Shortly after they went with a firmer compound for the rubber.
Over the years, a few folks reported reasonable life from their Kenda rear. So it can happen.

I too ride secondary ride on roads, very seldom on interstate highways. Always ride 2 up, she reminds me about the speed limits all the time.
I haven't yet found anyone yet who can load one of these Spyder things up enough to warrant needing any more pressure in a 'real' car tire than 18-20 psi in any rear tire that fits! And the people who've needed 20 psi have been pretty large people, generally running their Spyders at (or over!
) the max load limit &/or fast, in hot weather. So given that you are again going to be riding at somewhat less than max loading for the Spyder, if it was my S2S, I'd be starting with that tire running at 18psi. If you're heading off on any long, high speed, fully loaded runs in hot weather, then maybe bump that up a bit, but I wouldn't go over 20 psi... :thumbup:

That answers the question I was thinking about. What I noticed about the Kendas I owned was that they would rapidly wear in the center when ridden at interstate speeds (70-80 MPH). The centrifugal force would result in the tire ballooning in the middle because of its' weak construction. After not many miles the Kenda would look like a slick down the middle with plenty of tread on the edges.
