• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I need ideas for new mods

I need some Ideas for some new mods my wife wants. She wants a backrest and a way to move the passenger pegs forward a few inches.

For the backrest we don't really like the look of the sport rack design. So we were looking at the Corbin seat with the backrest but I keep flip flopping between the Corbin seat and the ultimate seat. I think either one will work for us because our main thing is the backrest.

For the passenger pegs. My wife's knees get soar after riding a little while with her legs tucked back. So we were trying to find something that would move them forward a little bit.

Thanks for any tips and tricks for either one of these things.

My ride is a '09 RS Phantom

Can't help with the back rest but BRP do make an OEM version of the peg extender for passanger with long legs. It extend the peg position down and forward. Looks original as part of the bike.

I changed all my OEM pegs to Kury spider pegs. Bigger and more custom look.

I would stay with BRP for all 3: passenger peg extender, comfort seat and sport rack/backrest. :doorag:

floor boards

We have the SFB floorboards that http://tricplate.com/ now has. My wife love the floorboards and I love them too, You keep your pegs where there are, but now you have a place to put your feet down and forward just a little. The installation is very easy, just pull the pins that hold your pegs and put these mounts in and replace the pins. As for a back rest, I'm not sure just how you like a second trunk, but how that we have it we use it all the time and enjoy the extra storage. Just something to think about. I will send you a couple of pictures if you want, not sure how to put them in here. send me a pm.

Hey Phantom888,

I ride a 09 RS SE5 also. I designed my Seal FloorBoards so both I AND my passenger will have a nice flat area to put our feet. Your wife will be able to put her feet at the same level as your feet. I've never had a passenger use the stock pegs, the floorboards just give to much comfor and support.

Ride in comfor,

John

My girlfriend and I both had leg issues after riding my RS SE5. I installed the Seal Floorboards and we both LOVE them. It allows us to extend our legs, provides support while riding and serves as a stable platform or step for getting on and off the RS. They were very easy to install.

She is very pleased with the support and security of the BRP backrest. It wasnt such an easy install. :gaah:

I put the ISCI boards on my RS, along with the ISCI hand brake, so I can Highly recommend both. You can add the Utopia backrest (lots of threads about that, an around $300 if memory serves), but, after many installations on different bikes - including my RS -the Corbin seat is my favorite.

Money was a consideration when I started adding mods. So, I went with a less expensive backrest. The Max Backrest and smaller luggage rack from Road Krome.

I haven't seen it on the Spyder yet. Everything is still being installed at the dealer. I went with BRP passenger leg extensions too. Hubby is who rydes back there. Not me. He needed the extra room. I stuck with BRP when I could because I'm having the dealer do the installation.

Good luck with your choices. There are many many options out there. Everyone gets to choose what's right for themselves.

Enjoy the ryde. That's what's important!

RE: Corbin backrest vs. Utopia. I started with the Utopia on my new RTS--but did not like the stock seat. I ended up getting a Corbin seat and backrest combination. Have also had experience with the Comfort seat--I do not like it as much as my Corbin--but that is my personal opinion. The comfort seat/utopia might be a good combo. You will save about 50% over the price of a Corbin if you go with the Comfort seat. There are some other threads that cover this in some detail.

Happy to hear they're working so well for you.

Ride in comfort,

Just don't forget that a good wide screen satellite TV will make you forget a lot of those discomfort issues....and will make your Spyder somewhat more unique

Thanks all for the suggestions. I think the wife likes the brp peg extensions. We are still up in the air about the backrest now.
