I need to buy a toy hauler.

Well we are out on our first camping trip of the season with a 5th wheel. Friends daughter's wedding is this weekend and we decided to camp since all the motels are full. Problem is there was no way to bring the Spyder along. I see this as a recurring issue that I need to resolve. The bad thing is that toy haulers are :yikes:$$$:yikes: and our 5th wheel is only 2 years old. We'll take a beating on any trade in. I found a 2 yr old Fusion 38' unit that we are going to take a 2nd look at next week if the dealer hasn't sold it. Not quite the same quality we have in the Artic Fox, but I guess we'll have to give up something to be able to have our Spyder along.

Shop, shop, shop, and craigslist and ebay is your friend.

We just went through this. Drove many miles and looked at many toy haulers to find "the one". We have our bumper pull toy hauler for sale because we have just bought a fifth-wheel toy hauler. We wanted more room and needed the extra bed over the neck.

We got the fifth-wheel for under $13,000 and it has the generator and is all open and can haul the spyder and 2 motorcycles.

I've always wanted to know what attracts people to purchase a 5th wheel ??? You lose the whole bed of your pickup truck and how do you haul your wood, and other large items like Bbq and bicycles ???? :dontknow:

Not counting that big hitch bolted in the bed of your truck even when your not camping.

The hitch is removable and the difference in the way they drive is nite and day once you get into something over 20 ft and up in weight you don't even know a 5th wheel is there a bumper pull trailer will steer you and push you all over the road

And can you still bring your own wood in most areas? Michigan had some kind of wood disease so you couldn't transport fire wood. If you have a 5th wheel toy hauler you can haul a ton of stuff in the garage along with your bikes.

My vote (not that anyone asked) is on the Dutchmen Voltage 3900. Gorgeous and seems to be pretty high quality.

Absolutely the way the fifth-wheel pulls! The first thing my husband did was to convert the fifth-wheel hitch to a gooseneck hitch. That way, if we need help, anyone who pulls gooseneck trailers can come to our rescue. Also, don't have the big fifth-wheel contraption in the bed.

We also have a living quarter horse trailer. You can be surprised what you can put in the bed of the truck under the trailer. Hay, coolers, etc. Anything that is in front of the hitch or doesn't stick up higher than the bed.

Ann, We have that firewood rule here as well at all State campgrounds and other certain places. But.......... I'm sure you know me by now, I rarely follow the rules.

That stuff was made up by the state so they would get campers to spend $8.00 for two small pieces of wood that they themselfs get hauled in.
