• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ignition switch Failure/not working

Have had this issue slowly creep up on me, When I click the orange button
down and then depress/push in the start button, if it is not pressed ever so
right, there seems to be a contact issue, where nothing will happen. No codes
are given. Something probably just wore out. Is this an expensive part? Or
hard to fix for dealership? This happen to anyone else?

Last month when I went on
a group ride it took several
attempts at trying to start
the bike. When I push the
lower start button it seems
like I am not always getting
contact,
I have been pushing harder
on all different areas of the
switch and it sometimes works
and most times not.

Wanted to ride today, but no start

Gonna try and take it in tomorrow,
or have it towed……..
but know they will need bike for a
few days till they can diagnose:banghead: Hoping this doesn't have me miss The Owners Event

I had battery replaced recently and it is kept on a battery tender.

Anyone have any magic words I can use, i'll even close my eyes and tap my
heels three times if that will work.

Don't know about what it will take to fix, but for now I suggest you stop using the kill switch to turn off the bike.

Dirt in the switch will do that. Try contact cleaner. May have to open the controls to get to it. I would try that first.

Is that because I may be wearing it out? Ok I will turn bike off with key first then.

hmm, thanks I'll ask if they can try that first, so often they (dealership ) would order a part rather than try to fix.

Well..!!

if your adventurous and patient you can pull the unit apart and clean it or see what might be the problem. In day and age they will not fix it and tell you you need a whole new unit. Now it could be the starter button or the kill switch or both. Good luck...

Where can I get contact cleaner? Home depot? hardware store? or computer repair shop?

I Have a compressed gas duster can from staples for my keyboard?

How do I remove the plastic case?- I will search the DIY threads to see if someone has shown how.;)

Der Mr Bait ;)
Contact cleaner- try an auto parts store.
Compressed duster air- good idea to try first. All that Cali dust might be killin it.
Removal- simple- 4 (I think) screws in the back of the housing.
Miss seeing you my friend ....

Sorry for the delay bro. Had company all weekend.
From here, all I have is intuitive things like trying to get contact cleaner in the area where the big red switch contact would be, along with the actual start switch. Actuate them several times to help work the cleaner around. If that doesn't do it, I think you'll be at the next level of asking a dealer or another of the help guys. But up to this point it hasn't cost much to try the simple things.

Nope- not going to to Durango. It bumps up against another big event that I'm in so I need to stay close.
